Thanks for this thread. While Bill Clinton and the MSM are
crying their crocodile tears over the anniversary of the OKC
terrorist attack, I am remembering the souls that perished at Waco,
and are all but forgotten. Both of these horrible events, and the way that
they were covered by the MSM (or covered UP, to be more exact), determined
Clinton's future. The rest, as they say, is history.

US military involvement in domestic police action....a clear violation. Nope. Authorized by the Drug War. So naturally, the feds had claims of a drug lab on the premises.

And that right there, my friend, says more than anything about the people living in the compound. If they were really the monsters the media and law enforcement made them out to be, they would have never let the BATFags leave. The BATFags were dead meat, out of ammo, in the open. Koresh and his people let them off the hook, and sealed their own death sentence.Absolutely. If they hadn't been decent people, every single murderous bastard that attacked them that morning would have died like they deserved.
Yeah, that's right. I said that the attacking government agents deserved to die. Every single one of them. That would have been true Justice. Texas style.
Unfortunately, regular American citizens just aren't prepared to murder people in cold blood like our government is.
Waco: Proof that FedGov will kill you to make a point.

Sorry about the BS comment........but I really don't think the GOP collectively
has the nerve to ever try such a colossal violation of countless
laws and human rights, such as Waco......not even in secret.
Mostly (perhaps ONLY) because they do not enjoy the favorable
press that democrats do. I do cede your point about
Ruby Ridge happening on a Pubbie's watch, but GHW Bush would never
have let it unfold on CNN with the world watching........wouldn't be prudent.

Wasn't the same person who shot Weavers wife also at Waco?Yes, but not in the initial assault. They needed professional killers later on.

Even if the allegations of child-abuse were documented, proven fact, what were a bunch of Federal "revenooers" doing acting on them? Shouldn't they be restricted to Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearem tax issues?

Your "honest inquiry" included categorical statements like "these people had illegal weapons." That's not a question - it's a statement, and was found many years ago to be false in a court of law. That's a large part of the reason for the tone of my response. (Perhaps at least now you have some understanding of why this topic summons vitriol.)
If you have any questions about Waco, feel free to ask me and I'll answer them politely; there's a lot more that happened there than I suspect you know.
For example, did you know the FBI lied for 6 years about not having used pyrotechnic CS gas rounds? They finally admitted that they did, but that those rounds "didn't start the fires," only relatively recently. If they didn't start the fires, why did they falsely deny using them?

eastforker - I've been around FR for much longer than most and have been involved in many of the deep and lengthy discussions regarding Waco. I watched the events of Waco unfold before my very eyes for 51 days during 1993. I remember the rage that most Freepers had for the Fed's as they attacked, surrounded and finally killed these folks.
Yes, rather than safeguarding their liberties, they killed them.
The BATF, FBI and senior Justice department persons who ran this operation will someday have to give an account for their actions.

OKC sure did a superb job of removing Waco from the public memory.

Have you been banned then under a previous name if you as you said been involved in deep and lengthy discussions? Freepmail me and let me know, I won't give up your cover, I have no agenda and we are on the same page on this subject. As jack Bauer would say, you have to trust me on this.

Never forget that a jury found Weaver not guilty of sawing off the barrel too short.
Actually, he was accused of shortening a stock too much. Any gun guy knows the minimum length for the barrel, bet he was unaware (as many) that there is an overall length minimum, and if you shorten a stock to fit a small shooter, you may be committing a crime.
