Why this is a problem for rabbis ? Besides, do rabbis believe that Christians or Muslems go to Heaven ?
Arthur, I didn't hear that any respected Orthodox Rabbi claimed any opposition to Ratzinger-Benedict XVI. Maybe some Reform liberal Rabbis are ? Grzegorz Judaism does not believe that anyone has to be a Jew to get the share in the world to come. I'm currently learning more about Judaism. It says explicitly that as long as you honor 7 laws of Noah you have the share in the world to come.
As for this another Sunday Times article mentioning a new Pope Hitler Youth days, anybody who learned a little bit about history of Nazism or Soviet Communism knows that in these societies everybody was forced to get involved with such regimes one way or another. So I don't give a damn about any other Sunday Times claims about Ratzinger. Formal Hitler Youth membership does not make Ratzinger a Nazi sympathizer at all. I also question whether they are saying truth about Ratzinger statements on Jews or non-Catholics. Knowing how leftist press enjoys attacking morally conservative, devout and religious people, I'm not taking them seriously.
