Minuteman Project to issue major planning statement - Organizers reviewing project's future, direction

April 17, 2005 (Tombstone, AZ)---On Monday, April 18, organizers of the Minuteman Project will be issuing a major statement on the immediate and long-term direction of the project.

Rumors have been circulating that the project might cut short its originally planned month-long monitoring of a 23 mile section of the Arizona-Mexican border by citizen volunteers. The project's cofounders, Chris Simcox and Jim Gilchrist, said it would be a mistake to think the border will be abandoned. "However, our overwhelming early successes along with more recent developments have caused us to review how best to direct the project the rest of the month and beyond, " Simcox said.

The project has generated national-indeed, worldwide-attention and controversy. President Bush alluded to the project's volunteers as "vigilantes." Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO), Chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus and an outspoken critic of the president's immigration policies, said the volunteers were "heroes in my book." Tancredo has invited the leaders of the project to travel to Washington DC and report on the project to the members of his caucus.

Project organizers said they have been deluged with messages of support along with requests from citizens of the other border states to organize similar Projects in those states. Gilchrist said all issues would be addressed on Monday. The statement will be issued at 12:30pm in Tombstone from the office of the Tombstone Tumbleweed newspaper, 312 Toughnut Street.

How cute. Not very substantive, but cute.

I live in Tucson. I do not have a local congresscreature I voted for or respect. Kolbe(R-RINO-Rumpranger) is my representative. Kyle is OK. McInsane is another Open Borders Loon. So is Napolitano, who is parsing Prop200 not to Arizona's best interests.
I did vote for Bush. Dont have to agree with his mismanagement of immigration policy, to support him on other issues that he is correct about.

I apologize, I wasn't clear.

On this issue of Immigration, who best represents your views?

Probably Hijinx, Spiff, SandRat and a couple of other Freepers have the border issue nailed. I dont exactly "follow" them but agree with their statements and trust the information they have access to, since they are living closer to the border in Sierra Vista AZ. They are either military or retired military as I am.

Give me the links and I will read each one and be pleased to comment.

Who is your political leader?

OK, I think I'm understanding your position now. I have a boss at work, MOST of the time, I agree with him. If I don't, I'm not gonna say "yassah boss, whatever you say boss". If there is discussion, I'm gonna say what I feel is right. I really think most "leaders" would like to hear a truthful and honest opinion. They know they're not always right and actually want to hear differing opinions in order to make a well thought out decision.

Ben, I think you're a "yes man".

Hmmm, I guess I didn't read that the 80 illegals were dealing drugs, let alone killing cops and raping children. Got anything else that will back your claim?

The one from the latrine checker is the funniest. He created an email from www.none.com? Typical. So, in short, you have some junk from alipac and a racist broad who can't handle living in TriBeCa.

Do you have a credible link?

No, the meth dealer was dealing; the illegals were not charged with dealing.

Then why did they get deported if they were just "undocumented strawberry pickers"

They weren't deported. They were returned to the border in two busses. You don't read well.

People hear or read what they want.
Tom Tancredo web site http://tancredo.house.gov/default.asp at the bottom of the page has this:
Apr 07 Tancredo Exposes MEXICO plot to break U.S. law.
Apr 07 Tancredo INVITES Bush, Condi to observe MINUTEMAN project in person.
Apr 15 Tancredo statement on Majority Leader Delay.
(The Big word is "IF" as a suggestion not an order)
Interesting read by reading each word as written.
He has my Colorado respect for STANDING UP AGAINST ILLEGALS.
How this country has changed. I Remember back in the 40's & 50's of mob persons being deported to the country they came from. It was no big flap. Media played it up big - front page - Big Caps (took up 1/4 of the top page.)This deportation is a powerful tool if used. I say Deport the ILLEGALS and keep a data base on the ones deported along with their names and photos being submitted to the Government of the deported country. If the same name appears a second time make it an international incident and demand cash payment(s) from that government for our expense to deport the person(s).

Deportations are normally in the grey dog.
Or is transport of illegals in busses not good enough for
your workers.
