1) your original comment indictated christianity has had no success. that is false.
2) as for "supplanting", even if you define and assume that christianity has not supplanted any monotheistic religion, "didn't" does not equal "couldn't".
All I can judge is from what history tells me. Christianity and Christian nations actually did badly against Islam until the Industrial Revolution coupled with the discovery of the Americas saved most of Christian Europe from Islam.
