Molesters Often Strike Again

Molesters Often Strike Again Saturday, April 16, 2005 By Catherine Donaldson-Evans

Jessica Lunsford (search) and Jetseta Gage (search): two young girls recently kidnapped, molested and killed, allegedly by men who authorities said are convicted, registered sex offenders who had served time and were back in the community.

Criminologists say it’s all too frequent that the perpetrator is a pathological sexual predator, as in the case of Jessica’s alleged killer in Florida, John Evander Couey (search), and Roger Paul Bentley (search), who Iowa police say murdered Jetseta.

“It happens all the time,” said Louis B. Schlesinger, a forensic psychologist specializing in criminal behavior and sex crimes at John J. College of Criminal Justice (search) in New York. “The dangerous ones have a high recidivism rate.”

It's really simple. If you molest a child you die. No ifs, ands, or buts. As a society we cannot accept this behavior. Sorry, bleeding hearts...these assh*les deserve nothing from society except a noose around the neck. When will the society come to grips with this??? We can only wait and watch...pathetic...SSZ

The Jessica Lunsford case so outraged her Florida community that a state representative, Charles Dean, said he’s introducing a bill called the "Jessica Lunsford Act" that would, among other things, require convicted sex offenders to wear electronic tracking devices.

Can we rephrase this? Every time a child molester is released from custody, another innocent child is condemned to an ugly death or a life of misery.

But we're diverse and non-judgemental, so I guess I should be thankful.

Yet our beloved, omnipotent courts keep releasing them again and again and again.

I could support that if they make the sex offender lists more accurate. There needs to be a distinction between predators who will repeat offend, and some 17 yr old who had sex with his 15 yr old g/friend.

Yes the failure's of our legal system are very frustrating to say the least...

Isn't that why they call it a Criminals' Justice System

Not only criminologists but psychotherapists will tell
you that this is a pathology that has an ENORMOUS rate
of recidivism. Such people definitely should be monitored
because they are walking time bombs.

Ok Those links seem like good ideas. It's just that sometimes the pendulum swings so far the other way. Something horrible happens and everyone jumps on the band wagon. But this seems like a very good law

It has already passed the house and senate and just got 8 million in funding to start it.

At least Jessica's death will provide a benefit for the rest of the children here in Florida...

I favor a penal colony in the Aleutian Islands - near Attu.

I thought the father was requesting people to get behind a bill in the US Senate. Actually I have a very good friend who is on our sex offender list in Mi. He is now 30, and when he just turned 18 he got mixed up with this 15 yr old girl. Age of consent in Mi is 16. They had sex, broke up, she charged him with rape. Long story...He did 6 mos in jail, electronic tether and now he's on list...He's never been in any trouble sense. It humiliates him now. He was trying to get a new job and they did a criminal check on him...He didn't get the job. And it wasn't child-related.

As a society we cannot accept this behavior.

As a society we have and it will continue until there is enough outrage. I've written my guv and state legislators. This is my biggest hot button issue. Nothing gets my blood boiling more than seeing these repeat offendrs strike again.

This 'people never change' mentality is going to be the final nail in the coffin of this country. Because that belief in of itself is slippery slope.

If nobody can change, then we should imprison all those who used drugs in the 60's and 70's because all they are is drug addicts who will never change and will always take drugs when they can (which is false.)

But let's not stop there, if you make a mistake you should keep paying for the mistake for that rest of your life, because that is EXACTLY when this 'people never change' mentality is all about.

If someone commits a crime, they should either pay a fine, be imprisoned, or killed; one of those three. But once they have served their punishment (if they are still alive), they should be let go to live their lifes and not continued to be punished, because ultimately any other way of thinking like that 'people never change' type of thinking will come back to haunt YOU also.

I want to know the details of how this guy who murdered Lunsford got out of jail in the first place. I'm putting money on it that he was released because of the Supreme Court "gain time" decision which dumped thousands of rapists and killers onto the streets in the name of liberal ideology.

Why aren't we notified when a murdered gets out of prison? Is a murdered any less likely to offend again?
