DCF: Terri Schiavo Not Abused, Exploited
State Agency: Terri Schiavo Was Not Abused or Exploited by Either Side of Her Family
By VICKIE CHACHERE
The Associated Press
Apr. 16, 2005 - State investigators found no evidence that Terri Schiavo had been abused or exploited by either side of her family, according to documents released by Florida's Department of Children and Families.
The agency investigated 89 complaints dating back to 2001, when Schiavo's feeding tube was removed for the first time and the legal battle surrounding her right-to-die case intensified.
The calls alleged that the brain-damaged woman was being mistreated by her husband and her parents for financial gain. One complaint alleged that Schiavo's parents were selling videos of her through a Web site; another said Schiavo's husband wasn't spending money intended for her rehabilitation.
But investigators said they found no evidence that either her husband or parents were exploiting her, and often noted in their records that they found Schiavo well cared for on their visits to her Pinellas Park hospice.
The agency released the records Friday under court order.
Schiavo, 41, died last month after her feeding tube was removed for the third time, ending a bitter court battle between her husband, Michael Schiavo, and parents, Robert and Mary Schindler, over whether she would have wanted to live in a vegetative state.
The repeated allegations of abuse were based partly on bone scans showing Terri Schiavo suffered fractures and statements she made to family and friends that she was unhappy in her marriage.
Schiavo's husband has denied harming his wife. His lawyer said the fractures resulted from osteoporosis caused by the woman's years of immobility and complications of her medication.
Robert Schindler declined to comment there on the release of the DCF documents. An attorney for Michael Schiavo did not immediately return calls.

A pattern of a coordinated campaign by people like those that have been posting on this issue right here on good old kooky FR.Agreed, this campain has painted FR in the worst light.
I don't think Terri should have had her feeding tube removed but the laws were there that allowed it to happen. No conspiracy just the law.
I find it hard to belive that JimRob allowed all the articles and the campain to continue.
It's his forum so he gets to do whatever he like it just din't seem like a issue that was normally to his liking.

There are mean-spirited people having fun at your expense. It amuses them that you care about Terri being put down by the florida judicial rubber stamptroopers. You are getting a glimpse of what the last days will be replete with ... the gods of this world enjoys tormenting those with compassion and uses those with smart remarks and dead souls to toss out the taunts. Don't give them the attention they so desperately seek to wallow in.

and they still don't have a leg to stand on.
Their defense is calling people nuts. Mind you, not greer/felos-Mr."Look in your eyes and I can see you want to die" starvation and dehydration are beautiful, MS who portrays himself as a loving husband that robs his disabled wife of her money for therapy and then says she wants to die while he is shacked up with another. That's not nuts in their eyes - to them, the nuts are those that stand up for life.
And when they get tired of the life issue, they close with, 'change the laws'. WE should fight to change them, not them. They are just in charge of criticism.

No conspiracy just the law. Which law?
Article One, Section Two of the Florida Constitution? The part that says that the right to life is inalienable, even for disabled folk?
Read it and get back to me with your explanation of how the State ordering the killing of an innocent Floridian could possibly be lawful. I can't wait to hear it.
Then explain to me how her death was lawful in the context of the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. That should be quite interesting as well.
If there is a 'conspiracy', it is a conspiracy of willful ignorance by our legal and political elites concerning the fundamental law of the land.
Your sage response will tell me whether you share in their condition.

Well, someone has to expose them for what they are.
For the lurkers, if nothing else.
I agree with you though about what is being exposed.

EV: So where's your lawsuit. Where's the Schindler's suit. Where's the suit against the judges, the governor and the legistlature. Where's your suit against President Bush for not protecting someone who has both federal and state rights.

When you went in the service, you swore an oath to uphold the Constitution.
What are your thoughts, then, on your responsibility to uphold the Fifth Amendment?
Did not every police officer who guarded the hospice take the same oath?
Every judge that sits on the bench?
Every legislator?
The Governor of Florida?
The President of the United States?

I took the document you posted yesterday and edited it to the pertinent statements. You couldn't handle it then, you can't handle it now. You know, we could have used this issue to help drive a cleanup of the judiciary, unfortunately the whackjob element is discrediting and neutralizing the element which could be effective. You think the middleground America is going to support whack fringe elements?

EV: So where's your lawsuit. Where's the Schindler's suit. Where's the suit against the judges, the governor and the legistlature. Where's your suit against President Bush for not protecting someone who has both federal and state rights. I have no standing, for starters.
But in any case, the sad fact is that I personally have lost all confidence in the Judiciary.
The legal profession has become a good old boys club that is dedicated to what is fashionable, not what is constitutional or right or wrong.
You couldn't get me near a court on purpose at this stage in our history.

It's really too bad that no brilliant pro-life constitutional lawyer helped the Schindlers out. I do think that with the right representation, they would have found relief through a claim that their daughter's constitutional rights were violated.
Where were the great ones? Where was Mark Levin?
Did the best simply not want to involve themselves, or did the Schindler team turn them down? Maybe the greatest disservice to Terri was done by the circus atmosphere that always accompanies Randall Terry and Jesse Jackson.
I am being kind enough to not drag your boss into this.
