I didn't see in the article where it said he was claiming to be a Christian or doing this due to Christian beliefs.

Actually Rudolph claims the Christian ID stuff was from him going to a church for 6 months that happened to have a girl he was chasing ... in the early 80's..

He claims he's a Catholic and hopes to 'die' as one.

Eric Rudolph's actions were simply a reaction to our nation's ills. I'm not justifying his actions, just pointing out that he was frustrated.
