I do not know who represented the United States. I presume someone in our government did.

The United States delegation was led by John Lehman, Secretary of the Navy, 1981-1987. He is Grace Kelly's cousin and now Chairman of the Princess Grace Foundation.

Seeing the images of the family grieving brought back very similar images from the funeral of Princess Grace.

I have spent a great deal of time in Monaco, and Princess Grace and Prince Rainier were extremely well liked and respected.

Prince Ranier developed Monaco's economy and industry. He was a great friend of the US and very pro-Capitalist and pro-American in his views, much to the irritation of his French neighbors.

His son, Prince Albert, will continue in the same tradition. He is half American, and educated in the US.
