ATLANTA (AP) - The NFL is trying to stop the spread of Ron Mexico.
Since that name was listed as an alias for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick in a lawsuit filed last month, a number of people have gone to the NFL's online store to order Vick's No. 7 replica jersey with a personalized "MEXICO" on the back.
Now, fans trying to order the customized jersey get this message: "The personalization entered cannot be accepted."
The alias was printed in court documents in a civil lawsuit filed March 14 that alleges Vick, infected the woman with herpes. Vick has said he will fight the charges.
Among the parties listed in the lawsuit is "Ron Mexico," which the plaintiff's attorneys claim Vick has used as a pseudonym. Vick's attorney, Lawrence Woodward, did not immediately return repeated calls to his office this week.

Doesn't Ron Mexico play hockey, er, would play hockey if he could?

hilarious. I was wondering were "Ron Mexico" came from.
I own a sports apparel store, so I find this kind of stuff interesting.
Mitchell & Ness, manufacturers of high end throwback jerseys, WILL NOT make the following players:
-Pete Rose
-OJ Simpson
Funny though, I see "knockoff" OJ's all the time. I try to tell them that they are fakes, but they don't believe me.
Comic Guy - "Most. Overrated. Quaterback. Ever."
Unless you have an actual, game-worn jersey from a player, they're all "fakes", even the "authentic" jerseys. Do people realize that all they have to do is order the number and team they want, then take the jersey to the local embroidery shop or seamstress, and they can have anything they want sewn on the back? I suppose that would be an awful lot of trouble to go to just to have "BARF" on your back, but I bet (no pun intended) there are plenty of Pete fans who would go through the hassle to pay homage to their hero.
I'm thinking the Levitra commercials will be replaced by Valtrex ads this season. I don't suppose that name could be placed on a jersey, either.
No, thank goodness for me.
GOOD to know that OJ has been eliminated.
I'll make certain I buy Mitchell & Ness products.
Well, let's not limit this to the NFL:
Celebrities With Herpes
It would be nice if they added Barry Bonds to that list.
This is more of a question than a statement...
but does Vick's ability to run and carry the
ball make him a better quarterback, or will
it shorten his carrer and thus lessen whatever
potential he had for greatness?
"Satan" should be okay for NHL, though.
They don't seem to care about accuracy...it's "thesmokinggun.com"
typically these days a scrambling quarterback who runs like Fran Tarkenton or Archie did (early) will not last as long.
