From post 311

PERU, Maine -- Officials are scratching their heads after witnesses reported seeing a low-flying military plane in western Maine with a trailing plume of smoke.
State police said several people reported spotting a plane in trouble around the town of Peru at about 4 p.m. Saturday.

Officials said game wardens and police searched the area on ground and in the air for several hours but came up empty-handed.

Good Lord!  I never heard of Peru, Maine.  It must be down  state.  I should check the Atlas.  I didn't hear anything and I check our online newspaper every morning.  I must have missed it.

I just checked the Bangor Daily News and nothing in there about this either. Must not have been a big deal.

If I hear anything more, I will post it here. But doesn't sound like it was anything of importance.

Very similar to recent incident in Connecticut- small plane flying very low (but not noted as military- green and white) was observed heading toward reservoir....never located.
