Are you thinking of the pilot who fled from Atlanta area but was arrested in Britain?

The new thread will be up by later tonight.
This story was on the 10pm Portland, OR news last night but not up on the internet. The area where the two were shooting is very wooded (Larch Mountain, just south of the small town of Corbett), east of Portland.
MamaD - In the last couple of days you posted possibilities of the "Land of Two Rivers". When this story was on the news last night I thought of Portland and it's two rivers, the Willamette and the Columbia.

Two arrested after target practice
June 2, 2005
PORTLAND - Gunfire in a remote part of Multnomah County has sent up red flags at the sheriff's department.
Deputies say Abdullah Shabbaz and a man who calls himself Yassin Abdurahman were shooting assault rifles on Larch Mountain over the weekend. Deputies gave both tickets for trespassing, bt now they've gotten the attention of federal law enforcement.
Officers say they had a duffle bag sitting next to them loaded up with semi-automatic assault rifles, handguns, clips and a gas mask.
Federal agents would not say if they're investigating further.
The two suspects were ticketed for trespassing, and lying to officers. Abdurmahan also had a warrant out for a drug charge.
Machine Gun Used For Practice By 'Portland Seven'
June 1, 2005
PORTLAND, Ore. -- A Palestinian man was sentenced Wednesday in Portland to five years in prison for possessing a machine gun. Investigators say 42-year-old Ali Khalid Steitiye used the machine gun during target practice alongside members of an Oregon terror cell called the Portland Seven.
Prosecutors say Steitiye was present at target practice at the same gravel pit in rural Washington state used by Portland Seven cell members.
But prosecutors say their investigation concluded that Steitiye was not part of their organization. He maintained throughout the case that he is not a terrorist.
He'll serve his gun possession sentence in the United States and then be deported to Lebanon.

OPINION - SPECULATION: He's either dead or really out of commission right now trying to get his health back to continue his jihad.
OR
He could be alive and fine (probably not) and is waiting for reinforcements to do his next dirty deed.
Yep.
Amen.
Thanks to tmp02 for pointing to this thread.

Manson Follower Denied Parole
Los Angeles Times ^ | June 2, 2005
Posted on 06/02/2005 1:43:36 PM PDT by nickcarraway
Former Charles Manson follower Susan Atkins was denied parole for the 11th time Wednesday for her role in the 1969 murders of actress Sharon Tate and six others during a crime rampage that stunned the nation.
Atkins, now 57, was one of cult leader Manson's "family" of young killers who burst into a Benedict Canyon home 36 years ago and killed Tate and four others. The following night, they stabbed to death a wealthy couple in their Los Angeles home.
Although Atkins has since embraced Christianity and apologized for the killings, Board of Prison Terms spokesman Tip Kindel said the prison board's members believed it was unreasonable to assume she was a suitable parole risk.
"They primarily cited the gravity of the crime, the fact the murders were carried out in an especially cruel and callous manner," Kindel said.

Thank you so much, all4one.
I am feeling increasing anxiety recently regarding world events- particularly what will transpire in Iran and NK. Actually, am more concerned about Iran than NK at this point...I did not the letter from Z to OBL mentioning it was time to execute the plan with OBL's ok (tho the entire thing could be a ruse.) Too many nukes, chems, and bios floating around in far too many countries- some of which we don't even know about yet....
I'm just seeing things heating up, quickly. You know, like when you are cooking liquid on an electric burner, its calmly bubbling in the pan on the usual "Medium" and the next thing you know, it has overflowed with no warning....
On the home front, Dad is responding well to the dialysis. At 84 he has once again begun gardening! I only wish that he had my Mom (his wife of 60 years) to share this time with him. I wish she had had a chance to see him get better.
Thank you to all for the prayers, pings, and words of comfort.
