They may be wacko and extremist, but they must be observed and taken seriously.   As the article stated, they are the offspring from the misguided San Francisco and Berkley antiwar 60s movements.   When core Americans recognize that, they back away from them. Agree, BUT they are also Organized and VERY well funded. and that my friend makes them very dangerous.
