I think I would love living in Arizona too. I enjoy the hot dry weather and I just feel like I have an affinity for the culture of Arizona and New Mexico. The history of that area of the country is fascinating too.

Thanks for coming by cyborg. Always nice to be get a chance to say hello to you.

It's bedtime here on the left-coast, so I will say good night to all the lurkers and night owls. I will be back later in the morning. Sweet dreams all.

I loved getting to know many Navajo people. I spoke it fluently as it's so easy to learn. Miss Macy's coffee shop and Route 66 shops on most every block *lol*

G'morning Mama Bear and Billie ... :)

I don't visit these threads, but when I saw you were visiting MY state .... I just had to stop by and say "Howdy"

Welcome to Arizona. IMNSHO the BEST state in the Union!!!! :)

I must say, your article just scratches the surface of the BEAUTY of Arizona. You have omitted any number of places that should be on the list of MUST SEE places .... but I realize that you are limited for space here on this forum. Places like Oatman, Wickenburg, Yuma, Tucson (and the Air Museum), the list could go ON AND ON ... :)

On the road to Oatman (old Route 66 from Kingman) there is a working gold mine which you can tour (with advanced reservations) ... feed the burros in Oatman ... enjoy boating and water sports here in beautiful Lake Havasu (we have more than just the Bridge, you know) .... Tucson has numerous options for the adventureous ..... take I-15 North from Phoenix to the I-40 ... some of the most BEAUTIFUL country in the world .... come on down to BEAUTIFUL ARIZONA ... you'll prolly end up staying!!!!! :)

The Darkest Day

Read:
Matthew 26:17-30

The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. -Psalm 118:22

Bible In One Year: Psalm 7-9

cover To celebrate Passover, Jewish worshipers sing Psalms 113-118, a section called the "Egyptian Hallel." The ceremony builds to a crescendo of appreciation for freedom and the beauty of life given by God. It ends with participants singing and praising God both to please Him and to express their own pleasure. One rabbi explains it as experiencing the "emotional joy of freedom."

Near the end of the Passover meal, the second half of these Hallel psalms are sung. According to the gospel of Matthew, Jesus and His disciples sang a hymn and "went out to the Mount of Olives" after celebrating their last Passover together (26:30). They may well have sung this psalm:

The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone.
This was the Lord's doing;
It is marvelous in our eyes.
This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:22-24).

Regardless of which hymn they sang, the confidence Jesus had in the goodness of His heavenly Father is astounding. He was able to praise His Father even though He knew He was about to experience His darkest day. -Julie Link

Even on the darkest days
My heart sings in joyful praise,
Not because God says I should
But because I know He's good. -Link

Praise has the power to lighten our heaviest burden.

Absolutely LOVERLY Lori !!!

I have been just there a few times on "outdoorsy" outings from visits w/family in NM. Now all looks wonderful EXCEPT the recipe.. I think I prefer my rattlesnake in the wild doing "rattlesnake things" rather than on a dish !!! But that is just me.

Here is a well known Arizona tribute:

Now the notepad vs dominia vs FR Post vs MSWord vs Word Perfect... hmmm. I don't even know what Notepad is !!! Just redid a computer to put in Word & WP. Har.. well, I will learn from you all who have already invented the wheel (after I find Notepad)

I crashed last night after my meeting. Will be out most of today in yard. I am working long & hard & it is a drop in bucket.. not to get a formally groomed.. but just to be acceptable. My fault. Dozens of LARGE, complicated flower beds.

Yesterday while sitting thru a BORING meeting I was thinking of the many recipes you have posted. I want to put them all onto a word Document.. Eleanor's Elegant Eats? ...Snugs Scrumptious sweets ...or something descriptive.

I don't do too much fancy (long & Involved ) dessert cooking anymore.. but again in the someday file

What a beautiful post, Auntie! Arizona is one of my favorite states. I first went there when I was six, and I will never forget my first visit to the Grand Canyon. The Native American cultures are so beautiful and fascinating. When I was seven, we went to Lake Havasu for the first time. Lake Havasu is one of the greatest lakes on the face of the earth! People here don't know why we are not impressed with the lake here, but when you have seen some of the lakes in the west, this just doesn't cut it! Cavebrave is in Yuma right now preparing to go to Iraq, and he says it is just beautiful. He loves the desert anyway. He flew into Phoenix, and couldn't believe how big it has gotten and what a great city it is.
