Most people in the world use the term "American" to refer to people in the United States of America. Only the most politically correct will refer to Mexicans or Canadians as Americans.
Well most would be wrong. Don't think that because YOU do something that MOST people do. Some of us put accuracy above agenda.

Well most would be wrong. That's impossible. If most people in the world believe "American" refers to a US citizen, then that's what it means. It is simply short for, "United States of America". Even most people in the Mexico and Canada acknowledge that America refers to the USA.
Word definitions are one area where the majority rule.
By the way, what country are you from? Where were you born?
