Analysis: 5 weeks to the 5/17/05 L.A. Mayor runoff election, (4/9/05 - 4/11/05) a rematch of the runoff election from 4 years ago, Antonio Villaraigosa leads incumbent James Hahn 2:1. Hahn leads only among Republicans and Conservatives.
Los Angeles: dominated by the liberals.
Los Angeles, controlled by Mexico City.
It still seems like we're being invaded by Mexico. They've never been quite able to forgive us for kicking their butt in 1848.
" Los Angeles, controlled by Mexico City."WRONG!!! LA is controlled by illegal aliens and how much the politician panders to them.
Get rid of Hahn and bring in Alan Keyes!
Hahn appears to be in trouble. Shocking.
About 70% of the electorate who votes in LA is Anglo. You don't quite have it right. It is more complex.
Yeah. I don't know that much about California demographics. I was just assuming, which I've come to realize can be a dangerous thing.
*Los Angeles ping*
And if ya think Jimmy Hahn is bad... you ain't seen Aztlan Tony work his magic.
If I lived in LA, I'd be writing myself in.
Really? I'm shocked. I checked the census and as of 2000, it's 46% Latino and 11% black.
Do tell. It's all just too complex for anyone but the legal profession to grok, right?
So, the Jewish vote in the west and the valley are all going for Villaraigosa, along with the Black vote who now view Hahn as "not a real Democrat", and that means that Villaraigosa will do....what? Convert, put on a Yarmulke and declare his new found Spaniard Jewish ancestry?
Give me a break. The guy is tied to Mexico City.
In a way that I didn't think possible just 10 short years ago.
Left and Lefter.
I give up. What's the difference?!
The Latino vote is about 20%, the black about 10%.
I suspect that V is running about even with H among the Anglo Christian vote. Think about that one. I would vote for V if in LA I suspect, but then I am a near atheist WASP, so I don't count.
I don't think V gives a darn about Mexico City by the way. You just pulled that one out of thin air. Obviously he has a political base in LA, which includes Hispanics and others, but does not include the labor unions and municipal employees that Hahn has pandered to. That appears to be about all that is left of Hahn's base, except for friends and neighbors in San Pedro, and some remnants of the black vote, and those who hate the idea of V being mayor, mostly those Anglos really upset about illegals who think that voting for V endorses that vis a vis Hahn.
