On this Day in History 1970 "Houston, we've got a problem;" an explosion in one of the oxygen tanks of Apollo 13 dashed any hope of completing the lunar landing mission and threatened the crew's ability to return to Earth safely; astronaut Jim Lovell's famous quote appears variously as "we have a problem" or "we've had a problem" or "we've got a problem"

On this Day in History 1992 "The Great Chicago Flood;" a piling driven into the Chicago River bottom caused a leak in one of the city's underground freight tunnels. Water spread throughout much of the system's 50 miles of tunnels, flooding subbasements and disrupting utility service throughout the Loop. The financial impact on the business and shopping hub of the city was enormous.
