BANGALORE, India - China and India should work together to dominate the world's tech industry, bringing together Chinese hardware with Indian software, China's prime minister said Sunday.
On a visit to India's southern technology hub of Bangalore, Premier Wen Jiabao said the two nations should put aside their historic rivalries for the venture and welcome a new "Asian century."
"Cooperation is just like two pagodas (temples), one hardware and one software," Wen said. "Combined, we can take the leadership position in the world," he said.
"When the particular day comes, it will signify the coming of the Asian century of the IT industry," he said in an address to information technology professionals in Bangalore.

Communist China and caste India do not inspire great technologists. If you've ever worked with engineers from those countries, you know the best thing they do is run a call center or pirate our stuff (not exactly cutting edge endeavors). Their software is shoddy. Give me a dedicated geek from Silicon Valley, RTP, or the Dulles corridor who has dreams of being a billionaire and I'll show you an American tech-genius who isn't worried about India or China.
Call-centres and offshoring contribute a fraction of India's economy. Get your numbers right. India is much older than offshoring.
Name one thing they've done. India has accomplished very little in technology. Indian engineers lack the innovation that is such an essential part of American tech. This is a matter of culture, not government.
I've worked with both, but mainly Indians. I have worked in advanced software technology for many years for some of the biggest companies out there. The Indians, I worked with are not working in call centers but in research and development. Some of the companies I've worked with are probably using 80% Indian visa workers for their newest product line. The other are farming out their work to offshore companies.
Some of the Indians are very capable, others aren't. Their main interest is learning everything they can about the software industry to take back with them. I find they tend to say whatever management wants them to say, especially on meeting schedules to finish projects. They are not worried about whether the estimates are correct, because many don't plan to be working for the American companies in a few years, so they will say whatever it takes to satisfy managers. Then the companies wonder why projects are slipping by a year or two.
The Indians are capable, but they don't have the loyalty that an American worker had for American companies. Sadly, this is no longer true. The American worker in the tech industry has learned that he is a disposable resource and is doing whatever he can to keep his job, rather than look out for the good of the company. The American worker in the tech industry is learning not to stick out his neck.

They have our technology. I agree that as a whole the Indians are not as innovative as Americans, but many of the new companies in the software industry are dominated by Indians.
Until patriotism is considered a worthy outlook by the Free Traitors, I'm afraid offshoring is here to stay. It doesn't seem to matter how good the souce code is. Many of the top executives are hiding the true cost of offshoring, long enough to get their huge bonuses. One of the companies I worked for was over 120 a share. A few months before 9/11 they went down to 11 a share. 9/11 was not the reason for their downfall, but poor management. After 4 years of offshoring and having their CEO named one of the top CEOs in America, the company is still around 11 a share and has about the same amount of cash as it had before the reduction in workforce. I can't figure out why the shareholders think this is good.
Morale of the American tech worker is very low and offshoring continues. The Indians are getting better and the Americans are going into other lines of work to support their families.

Their words aren't worth the piles of toilet paper they could be printed on, that are otherwise now serving as used, disgusting little piles on the floors, all throughout restrooms in Beijing Central Station.
