(CNSNews.com) -- A neurologist hired by Michael Schiavo to confirm that his wife Terri was in a persistent vegetative state said he was "105 percent sure" of that diagnosis, but Dr. Ronald Cranford expressed similar certainty about a patient he examined in 1980 who later regained both consciousness and the ability to communicate.

Three days before Terri Schiavo's death, Cranford appeared on the MSNBC talk program, "Scarborough Country," to discuss her condition. Cranford was interviewed by reporter Lisa Daniels.

So how do you know for sure she wanted to die? Where you able to read her mind? Or did you base that knowledge on the lying cheating husband and his brother and sister in law? Oh yes and if MS was only doing this because it was what Terri wanted how is it possible he did all the other things that Terri would have never wanted? For instance how is it he would deny her family be at her death bed, how is it he would deny her to go outside for 5 years. How is it he would bury her in a state where no one in her family could visit her grave - and on and on.

Neglect and abuse complaints is that Michael Schiavo:

* Has not allowed therapy or rehabilitation since late 1992.
* Has prevented swallowing tests or swallowing therapy since 1993.
* Ordered caretakers not to clean Terri's teeth since 1995, resulting in removal of five teeth in April 2004.
* Placed Terri in hospice in 2000, despite the fact she is not terminally ill.
* Refuses to allow Terri to leave her room. She has not been outside since 2000.
* Ordered doctors not to treat Terri when she had a life threatening infection in 1993 and 1995.

Virtually as soon as Michael Schiavo received the monies from the medical malpractice claim involving his wife, Terri Schindler-Schiavo,
he withheld all therapy and rehabilitation services from her.

Terri Schiavo had sustained a serious brain injury as the result of a suspicious incident in their home in 1990 and in 1992,
her husband had filed claims against several of her former doctors, claiming her “collapse” was caused by a misdiagnosis.
He received over $1.5 million in 1993 including $750,000 which had been specifically earmarked by the trial jury for Terri’s rehabilitation based on a life expectancy of 50 years.
Mary and Bob Schindler Sr., her parents, consulted a St. Petersburg attorney about removing Michael Schiavo as their daughter’s guardian and discussed the case at length with him.
Unfortunately, the Schindlers did not have the amount of money the attorney demanded as a retainer to take the case.
That attorney became the judge in the case-----a totally prohibited conflict of interest.
Thereafter, the attorney-judge approved the hiring of George Felos as the attorney for Schiavo to be paid from the trust fund and the stage was set for her judicial homicide.
The judge wasn’t George W. Greer.
It was Mark I. Shames.

Mine: Since dying from starvation and dehydration is so painless, why have we worried about people who have been in famines?

Yours: Well, it hasn't been from concerns about pain. The theory, in case you missed it, is that with a little transitory help they can be restored to self-sufficiency (it doesn't always work out that way). We are trying to prevent normal healthy people from dying from lack of food. Alzheimers patients are, well, a little different than that. Do you think that Alheimers results from failure of a wheat crop? Are factual distinctions lost on you?

I guess you didn't understand what the /sarc tag (from my original post) meant. I was referring to more than just Alzheimers' patients, but I suppose you weren't. Sorry that I threw in the whole 'useless eater' thing when you maybe weren't referring to them all. Didn't mean to mislead you.

The talking heads keep reminding us of how "painless" it is to be starved and dehydrated, and I was just using the analogy about famine to show that it really isn't. I wasn't speaking to only the Alzheimer's situation.
