PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President Bush met with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon at the ranch in Crawford, TX, today. Their meeting included a tour of the rance and a press conference.
QUOTES OF THE DAY: GWB's opening remarks at the joint press conference.
Mr. Prime Minister, welcome to my home. Appreciate you coming. I appreciate our meeting. I'm looking forward to serving you some good food for lunch. Most importantly, I'm looking forward to driving you around the ranch - I want you to see my place. I know you love the land. The Prime Minister was telling me he's really a farmer at heart, and I look forward to sharing with my friend what life is like here in Central Texas. So, welcome. He invited me to his place one day, in Israel, and it's something that I look forward to doing, as well.
The Prime Minister's opening remarks and a quip by GWB.
PRIME MINISTER SHARON: Thank you, Mr. President, for this important meeting and for your generous hospitality. It was a pleasure to be invited to your home here at the ranch. On behalf of the state of Israel, I wish to thank you, your administration and the American people for your warm and steadfast friendship. Of course, I would be very glad, Mr. President, to have you as a guest on our farm, not only because we are short of labor. (Laughter.)
PRESIDENT BUSH: You're desperate for labor if you're counting on me. (Laughter.)

The weather in Crawford looked perfect today. Probably similar to Israeli weather.

Note who's resting in the shade as the two leaders walk toward the site of their joint press conference.

A wider shot showing more of the ranch grounds. If Barney accompanied his Boss and the PM to the news conference site, he's nowhere to be found in this photo. Smart dog that he is, he probably stayed behind in that shady spot he found. After all, who wants to stand around in the sun listening to reporters ask dumb questions.

Pictures released by the Israeli Government Press Office shows President Bush and his dog, Barney, as they welcome Prime Minister Sharon at the presidential ranch in Crawford, Texas, today.

The Prime Minister and his aides all smile at Barney.

This is the first time I can recall seeing photos from within GWB's office at the ranch. Note the presidential seal on the two leather chairs.

GWB offers PM Sharon chocolates wrapped in the Israeli flag.

At their joint press conference, GWB listens attentively while Sharon speaks. The President appears to have a small scrape on his left cheek -- maybe from mountain bike riding or cutting brush.

Walking on the ranch past Texas cactus.

The bluebells are in bloom at the ranch.

Prime Minister Sharon greets Vice President Dick Cheney as he's escorted to the ranch house by GWB.

Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and various aides listen as President George W. Bush and Israel's Prime Minister Ariel Sharon hold a joint news conference following talks on the Middle East peace process at Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, today.

President Bush gives Israel PM Sharon a tour of the ranch.

Our Dubya at today's joint news conference.

The ranch seems to agree with both men.

The President escorts the Prime Minister to the site of the joint press conference. I posted this pic because you all might enjoy seeing the cowboy belt buckle.

Israeli and U.S. security personnel guard the limousine containing Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon after his arrival at TSTC Airport in Waco, Texas, yesterday. One of our presidential limos was made available for the PM's use.

The Israeli PM got a good old Texas welcome when he arrived at the TSTC Airport. (Those are his aides and security personnel in the background.)

I was not able to keep up with the Dose threads much last week, so don't know if any of these were posted since the events didn't get much news coverage.
The President held a Cabinet meeting last week. Here's a photo from the WH website.

President Bush and Vice President Cheney met in the Oval Office with Zalmay Khalilzad, U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan.
