No. Is this really true, or is it a parody?

A link to the Onion article and to a news report of Kerry's comments are desperately needed here.

Well, these email "jokes" have been going on as long as... well, since there has been email.

A John Kerry presidency would have been a continuous script from the Onion.

Quite true. Actually, a widespread email gag, documented on snopes.
So old...has dinosaur crap on it...
Origins: Oh boy, this one is almost as funny as those photocopied "rules" about employees only being allowed to use the bathroom on alternate days (depending upon the first letters of their last names) that popped up on workplace bulletin boards all over the country when an odd-even gas rationing scheme was instituted during the 1979 oil crisis. We'd like to think nobody is foolish enough to fall for something so obviously phony, but then we recall all the people who asked us whether the message about Billy the Burlap Boy was genuine.

No, no, no... it really happened! The Onion and Scrappleface are part of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy and they printed a satirical story about this to confuse us all and make us think it was untrue. Don't you know -- Diebold owns the apartment building of the guy who runs the Onion and a guy who once worked as a janitor for an independent contractor that did business in the 1980s with Halliburton now works for Mr. Scrappleface himself -- the inventor of Scrappleface.
The election was stolen but the media won't cover it because they are all members of these things called "corporations" which are trying to take over the world by sending out the black helicopters to eat the brain of anyone who finds out the truth, so you have to wear a tin-foil hat to ward off the "laser" beams from the secret space satellites put up by NASA to make sure we consume enough petroleum-based products every year to finance the coming invasion from Mars.

This reminds me of "US Congress will move to Nashville if DC does not build a new Capitol building with rectractable dome" story, also from The Onion.
http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/oniondome.html
That one was reprinted by Beijing newspaper which took it seriously.
