NEW DELHI - India and China, the world's two most populous countries, agreed on Monday to create a "strategic partnership" in an effort to end their longstanding border dispute and boost trade and economic cooperation.

The agreement signaled a significant shift in relations between the two Asian giants after decades of mutual distrust and suspicion.

"India and China can together reshape the world order," Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said after a welcome ceremony for his Chinese counterpart, Premier Wen Jiabao, at India's presidential palace.

Together the two nations account for one-third the world's population.

The statement announcing the partnership was signed by both premiers and said the agreement would promote diplomatic relations, economic ties and contribute to the two nations "jointly addressing global challenges and threats."

India-China relations have "acquired a global and strategic character," it said.

"The leaders of the two countries have therefore agreed to establish an India-China strategic and cooperative partnership for peace and prosperity," the statement said.

You know what you dont really sound like an American. Now if you are a Chinese why dont you just say so. I am an Indian and at times even I have severly criticised the US but even I will not accept the kind of propaganda you are indulging in.

The fact is ......had it not been for the US, much of our planet would have gone under either dictatorship or communism. I am not saying that the US did everything right, but they had the right intentions and they did what they believed was right.

You accuse the US of killing innocent civilians?
Well lets face it .......most other countries killed more of their own people then what the US ever did. The whole world knows whats happening in Tibet, I have actually been to Dharmasala and Siliguri. I have a fair idea of whats happening in Tibet.

There is no conflict with Chinese if we don't aggressively invade China.

Yep.

Some folks said that about Germany and Japan about 70 years ago.

They were wrong then and you are wrong now.

This ain't our first rodeo on FR. It is yours so why don't you disclose your agenda. A little honesty never hurt anybody except those who are disingenuous.

It was pretty pathetic. All about how the friendly N. Koreans were brutalized by the war mongering Americans to the point where China had to step into save its neighbors from us bad boys. Just like we would do if some other non-regional power came in all of a sudden and just up and invaded Canada.

How the Chinese have never threatened us or their neighbors and are going about improving the lives of their citizens who are moving towards a free society as fast as the benevolent leaders can get them there. Pretty blatant, apologist, revisionist communist sympathizing.

From some of the sentence structuring I have to agree with Eaker and Squantos in my own opinion...but as you say, we have plenty here who would take up with Castor, Chavez, or the ChiComms in a moment because of their social/marxist leanings at heart and a desire to control the rest of us.

Amazing brew they're trying to peddle, particularly on this site...you'd have to be stone drunk, blind, and ignorant as a rock to buy it.

They should have left his rants up for all to see, so that everyone could make up their own minds.

I agree. Particularly his. They were classic leftist/marxist/communist propaganda and sypathizer material, IMHO. Wholly distorted and revisionist history that they put out. Sad things is that so many of our own kids are subjected to the lite version of it in our own public schools these days. We worked hard to counter it over they years our five went through...and I believe we did alright.

With all due respect, you probably have never been to India / Asia and you speak out of total ignorance.
And speaking about Democracy / Free markets you prop a dictatorship / terrorist state ( Pakistan / Saudi / China) to name a few.... an instance of the pot calling the kettle black i think!!!!

That's right, I've never been to India.

So I must know absolutely nothing about geopolitical situations.

I "prop up" Pakistan/Saudi/China? Where the hell did you get that? I consider all of those countries a potential threat. Get your information straight before you go off half cocked with your "with all due respect" insults.

Your lack of logic is astounding.
