>>>The 8 and up quakes are newsworthy. Why is the press carrying stories about these little shakers that do not do justice to the moon phase hypothesis?

You ever been in Japan during a 6-5 quake? It's newsworthy.

That wife of mine, a supicious kind
She says that I'm quite a flirter
But I've been a good boy all of the time
And I wouldn't do nothing to hurt her
She'll tan my hide for spending the night
With Betty Lou or Alice
But I'm sleeping alone in this wreck I own
I broke down south of Dallas

When I stumble home at the break of dawn
She better not be suspicious
'Cause I'm about at the end of my rope
And she better not act too vicious
I'm a-covered in grease from my head to my feet
Hands are cut and callose
I spent all my bucks on a broke down truck
I broke down south of Dallas

I'm a happy guy when the miles go by
There ain't too much that I'm missing
But I've got a wife with a frying pan
And when she talks I listen
I'm the king of the road
She's the queen of the house
And it may not be a palace
But it sure beats a load by the side of the road
Broke down south of Dallas
Yeah, it sure beats a load by the side of the road
Broke down south of Dallas

No, it's just a magnitude measurement. I forget how to convert, but the largest earthquakes in Japanese history (close to 9 on the Richter scale) measure a 7 on the Shindo scale. The Japanese report all their earthquakes using this scale.

According to a number of Christian writers and teachers on Bible prophecy, Jesus predicted in the Olivet Discourse that a pronounced increase in the frequency and intensity of earthquakes would occur just prior to His return to the earth.

Many of the same writers and teachers claim that the decade of the 1990s has experienced a pronounced increase in both the frequency and intensity of earthquakes as compared to the earlier decades of the twentieth century. This coincidence of Jesus' prophetic statement and recent seismic events is viewed by these writers and teachers as clear demonstration of the nearness of the return of Christ.

We ignore 3-4, look up for 5-6, check the dog's water bowl in case the water sloshed out on a 7, and call USGS for 8-9 to see how far the plate shifted.

Good old Hachijo-jima. Last point of land when we headed home, great circle towards West Coast US.

My mother, who has never been to Japan (nor lived in an earthquake prone region) arrived in Tokyo hours after this earthquake. She'd earlier expressed that she hopes to feel one while she's here.

A 6.0 right in Tokyo. That will get your attention. Maybe knock the Playstation right off the desk.

All of those writers and teachers are liars and/or morons.

Don't bother arguing with an "end timer". Facts doesn't mean anything to them. In their mind, every time the Earth shakes, farts, or has indigestion it means the end is coming.

Oh, I am aware of the futility, but I still find it entertaining.

Personally, I think we Christians are going to be too busy running from a secular world government of the future to discuss the Rapture when Jesus comes again.

Come Jesus, come.

We will be persecuted by the world government.

The private secretary of the late Pope John Paul II saw the pontiff perform what could be claimed as a miracle, one of the key stages to becoming a saint, Italy’s La Stampa newspaper reported Sunday.

It quoted Archbishop Stanislaw Dziwisz as relating how an American who was seriously ill received communion from the pope, and was cured.

The incident happened in 1998, but Dziwisz, who was John Paul II’s closest confidant for 40 years, spoke of the incident three years ago to reporters, who revealed it Sunday.
