I bet they have 'great expectations' for this park.

Want to bet it's not going to be anywhere near accurate? Wouldn't be permitted under today's health laws.
I'm betting they'll ignore the debtors' prisons and orphanages. "Please sir, may I have another?" They'll probably also ignore the streets that doubled as sewers and the mountains of horse dung that characterized London of the era.

Oh boy, my young children will have the pleasure of reliving the experience of putting labels on blacking bottles for 12 hours a day. I wonder what the concession stand will charge for treacle?

Overheard at the concession stands:
"Please sir, may I have some more?"

I read a Tale of Two Cities in HIgh school, I'm sure kids everywhere will just be itching to go there...NOT!

Well . . . it may have been the worst of times . . . but it was also the best of times.

So,..., What's gonna be the fun part of all this? Finnigan's ride? Pickpockets take your wallet and give it back to you? Drop the kids off at the "workhouse" or orphanage while mom and dad go have a lager at the pub? I mean, families with kids go to theme parks for fun (esp. if you're paying $60 or £30).

What the dickens are they thinking?
To: Spktyr
Not to mention the air pollution.

"Yes, that's right, at DickensLand, you too can get your very own case of Black Lung from breathing our air here! Enriched by genuine simulated factory smokestacks with no pollution controls, you can feel just like the lower class in Dickens' time!"

A Dickens theme park...who will go to it? I can't believe they're still making kids read Dickens. My son in the 9th grade just read GE...which is more than I did. for his project he wrote a song about it, brought his guitar to school and sang the Great Expectations Blues.

I can't believe they're still making kids read Dickens. Dickens was the greatest novelist ever. A master of all the elements of fiction: plot, theme and characterization; and his works were entertaining to boot. Kids can't possibly do better than Dickens in the reading department, and they just might pick up some moral precepts along the way.
