Baghdad-Al-Shark Al-Awsat: Khasru al-Jaf, member of the Iraqi National Assembly from the Kurdish National Coalition slate, said that the current Iraqi flag should changed because under this flag, thousands were killed and many became homeless and that the Iraqi flag has been replaced five rimes in the past, including three times during the republican era.
Al-jaf clarified that the Iraqi flag has been under fraud and is a very sensitive issue. Also, the sacred word was not there before, and the one who placed it is known. It should be deep inside us and in conscience. This should be decided through voting because the Kurdish street and the Kurdish nation are sensitivity towards this flag, as they killed and strayed under this flag.
Al-Jaf pointed that there is point in history more than the present time that expresses the cohesion of the Kurdish blocks, and that despite the long delay period for the elections of the presidency of the national assembly, the new Iraq needs more patience. Kirkuk case should be solved within the law of the of the Iraqi state administration, which is the competence of the new government after drafting the constitution and the restoration of districts and areas that were taken from Kirkuk. Hence, Kirkuk residents should decide their fate by themselves. As for the (Pishmarkas), they are a part of the Iraqi army and is an organized and dissolved force, within the Iraqi army and are not militias. We support the existence of a central army for the federal government, he said.
My first thought as well.
Thanks for both your replies. I agree there should be a consensus or vote. Don't think the Israel flag idea will go over so well, even with a crescent, just because the original is Israeli. Too bad though because getting a consensus may take months.
