ALAMOSA, Colo. (AP) - A woman accused of killing and cannibalizing her boyfriend will be allowed to leave a state mental hospital as long as she continues to take her medication and undergoes therapy, a judge ruled Friday.
Psychiatrists at the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo had recommended the release of Jane Lynn Woodry, 51, who changed her name from Carolyn Gloria Blanton in 1999. Prosecutors opposed the request and sought independent mental health evaluations.
After reviewing two outside evaluations, District Judge Pattie Swift agreed to release Woodry under certain conditions.
Woodry had been held at the hospital since her 1994 arrest for the murder of her boyfriend, Peter Michael Greene, 51, whose mutilated body was found at his home near Alamosa. He had been shot several times.
During a February 1995 hearing in which she pleaded innocent by reason of insanity, investigators testified that they found "bite-sized chunks of human flesh" in a cooking pot at Woodry's home.
"We continue to oppose it (Woodry's release)," prosecutor Michael Gonzales said. "However, realistically there was the state hospital evaluation and two independent evaluations, and all the experts agreed the conditions were appropriate and there would be a safety net for the community."
Defense attorney Barbara Zollers did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Hospital release sought for killer
Woman shot, cut up boyfriend in 1993

Officials at the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo have recommended the release of a woman who shot her boyfriend in 1993 and dismembered his body.
Alamosa Judge Patti Swift will decide at a hearing Friday whether to allow Carolyn Gloria Blanton, who has changed her name to Jane Lynn Woodry, to live off campus.
"She would still be supervised by the state hospital, she would still be supervised very closely - she'd go in and take her meds, but she would be allowed to live off campus, try to get a job and integrate herself," said public defender Barbara Zollars. "She'll still be getting her therapy, the state hospital people will be seeing her three or four times a week. Her medicine is going to be delivered by shot, every two weeks. It's going to be really hard for her to slip through the cracks."
But friends of Peter Greene, who still relive the grisly 1993 murder, say they don't want his killer released.

Or "cannibal" even. LOL.
But its going to be tough getting a date..!

Hello Clarisse
REMIND ME not to date this woman.
One of the Communist Goals has been to get criminal prosecutions handled by psychiatrists....
I think they've achieved this goal here.

I hear it takes a village...
We need to get to the meat of this matter. Getting her off the streets will take a huge bite out of crime. If she tastes freedom, who knows what else she may chew on.
Ping to self for later pingout.
I guess she's part of the Laurena Bobbit family.
hey Norm...
..."Patti Swift will decide" ... as to whether or not Jane has been effectively converted to lesbianism...

'slip through the cracks" ... sorry but LOL, LOL, LOL,!!!
Seesh, she's better off in prison. I mean who would hire her, or for that matter, associate with her?
Someone who was just "starving" for attention?
Oral sex with this babe could deliterious to one's health.
How long before she cooks again?
I hear she's having a coming out party. All who want to attend are welcome.
