Evidently.
The burden of proof is on them. Aren't they a little late?
Probably funded in some way by CAIR, whatcha think? Considering an earlier article I read about a book that was recently published about how Mooslims are trying to undermine our society by appearing "moderate"
bttt
No, it's not a ploy. Dr Jasser, who's articles I've posted a number of times here on FR, is the chairman.
Stephen Schwartz is the Executive Director of the Center for Islamic Pluralism in Washington, DC .
The founders of the Center for Islamic Pluralism are (affiliations for identification only):
Kemal Silay, CIP president: professor of Ottoman and modern Turkish culture at Indiana University.
Stephen Suleyman Schwartz, CIP executive director: author of The Two Faces of Islam (Doubleday), and associate of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Sarajevo.
Nawab Agha: chairman, American Muslim Congress.
Zuhdi Jasser: chairman, American Islamic Forum for Democracy.
Ahmed Subhy Mansour: former professor, Al-Azhar University, Cairo, author of Penalty of Apostasy: A Study of Islamic Law.
Salim Mansur: professor of political science, University of Western Ontario, and columnist, Toronto Sun.
Khaleel Mohammed, assistant professor of religious studies at San Diego State University.
Tashbih Sayyed: publisher, Muslim World Today.
If Muslims want something that can be interepreted to promote civilized behavior instead of the barbarism, they're not going to find it in the Koran. Basically, these are people who really really want Islam to be compatible with modern civilization, and are willing to rewrite the whole thing if that's what it takes to get it. Personally I think they'd do fine with the Old Testament.
So their credentials are supposed to make us feel all warm and fuzzy?
Don't know, watch what they do,not what they say.

Um, the Old Testament is as immoral and bloody as the Koran.
If they're going to look to a newer morality, they SHOULD take the path the Jews have taken with regard to interpreting the Torah and Old Testament, in general.
Yeah....their credentials, their articles, books, speeches and actions over the years.
That's about all there is.
In fairness, when judging any large number of human beings, you're going to get good and bad.
Do you REALLY think ALL Muslims are evil and brutal and intent on conquest? Seriously, have you even met a variety of Muslims or any other group from different backgrounds and nationalities?
Very interesting! His logic is sound.
Also, saying the OT is immoral is ridiculous on its face, considering that the civilization you live in is based on the laws of civilization therein. You may not even realize it but it's probably the basis of your own definition of morality.
It's either BS or they just think they're muslims.
re: redacting the koran and the hadith...
I'LL. BELIEVE. IT. WHEN. (IF). I. SEE. IT.
pong
This week's "Moderate Muslim" is next week's suicide bomber.
Sorry. I'm not going to trust anyone in that cult. Not in this lifetime. It's too late for that.
