I did not say it was the ONLY reason for the Interstates. Military and Public use were also cited but Public use was way down the priority list. Besides, the reason you mentioned is part of Interstate commerce as well, you had a business need that was facilitated by you being able to travel safely to sell your product. And since we all know that business and commerce would be a lot of material and product sitting in a warehouse without the act of selling, you are a driving force behind our economy. That being said, I am sure you were driving a smaller, faster, more maneuverable vehicle than the trucker delivering your hardwood, my point was just to be courteous and understand their job a little. They operate on the logistics of fuel consumption, tire wear, time in transit. That is the reason that you will see a truck on an uphill draft the truck in front, move to the left lane, get half-way up the hill and drop back in behind him. Sure he could drop the hammer and get past the truck in front of him, but the cost in fuel to do that negates the act. He is not there to make your travel any easier, he is doing his job. The laws of diminishing returns operates in his business just as it does yours.

No I realize what you said, and I appreciate your recognizing that it in effect takes all of us to make the wheels, pardon the pun, of commerce turn.

That being said I also agree with you as I know that you agree with me that courtesy on the road is a requirement of all.
