The Minutemen Will Make A Fool Of President Bush
GDO Online ^ | 4/8/05

Posted on 04/08/2005 1:46:00 AM PDT by BurbankKarl

President Bush has called the Minutemen, who are now patrolling the U.S.-Mexican border:"vigilantes." I suppose that Bush believes anyone who wishes to help enforce our laws and maintain U.S. sovereignty is a vigilante. If our president had not abdicated his responsibility in this matter, the Minuteman Project would not exist. However, he did and they are doing a great job!

Despite the erroneous propaganda perpetuated by the liberal media, the ACLU, the Mexican government, and even our president, the Minutemen are not a group of wild-eyed racists--with bloodlust in their hearts. They are retired police officers, former military men, laborers, businessmen, moms, and dads, in short--they are a cross section of America. The only difference between these Americans and most of us, is the fact that they are willing to sacrifice their time and are even willing to put themselves in harm's way. They like most of us, are fed up with our government's lack of interest in enforcing our borders.

Much has been made of the fact that many of the Minutemen volunteers carry firearms. They do not chase down illegals with guns drawn. They are carrying weapons for self-defense purposes only. They do not apprehend suspects. They are simply operating as the eyes and ears of the incredibly under-staffed U.S. Border Patrol. The area along the Arizona border with Mexico (where the Minutemen are stationed) has become a very violent sector, filled with Latin American drug smugglers. Perhaps, we should remind the left that we as U.S. citizens, still have the right to bear arms.

The Minutemen have taken on the responsibility of spotting and reporting anyone seen, illegally crossing the border. Period.

The Project's duties were well described by Minuteman spokesman Mike McGarry this weekend, he said : "You observe them, report them, and get out of the way."

This past weekend saw the first patrols of the Minutemen, which yielded several arrests of illegal aliens. On Saturday, volunteers spotted and reported sightings of illegal crossings. Their actions resulted in 18 arrests.

As of Tuesday (three days after patrols began), the Minutemen were responsible for aiding in the arrest of 176 illegal aliens. These numbers will continue to rise and by the end of April, this dedicated group of men and women will have done their country a great service. With every illegal alien who is apprehended, President Bush looks a bit more foolish and impotent.

I agree HOORAH, the illegal immigration is a huge problem, it is a travesty not only for current US Citizens but for the damage done to LEGAL Immigration, the people who come here for the right reasons, who want to become part of this great American experiment not just to escape a failed system for a few bucks to send home to sustain their families. After the Mexicans there are only 3 BILLION more just like them waiting to jump in. The combination of the failed enforcement of our legal Immigration laws along with a corrupted and failed tyranny on our borders is not good at all. The only thing positive is that maybe along with the MM and other efforts on illegal immi, the Citizens are awakening to this failure as well as other failures in the almighty Government. I only hope that We the People will finally speak with one voice.

Until a viable third party somes along, voting for them is masturbatory - it makes you feel good, but accomplishes nothing.

Unlike voting for Republicans, which makes you feel vaguely guilty, but still accomplishes nothing.

They are carrying weapons for self-defense purposes only.

This drives the open border worshipers nuts. They have probably prayed hard to their gods that an international incident would take place that they could blame on the Minute Men.

I find it very sad when a thread virtually calling our President a fool is not pulled. I'm sure the folks at DU are loving this.

It will be a lot worse when someone gets injured or killed because of these posers. Private citizens have no business bearing arms and deciding to become law enforcement -- particularly since the illegals crossing the border are not shooting their way in. If they want to wander along the border and report crime, fine -- but carrying weapons is a mistake that will ultimately backfire big-time on these knuckleheads.

Now I disagree with your above, which is IMO, a paranoid rant, and look at the whole situation.

Oh..let me see...

Billions of $ spent on illegals, 80% of the meth labs run by Mexican Mafia, schools hiring loads of teachers for the 'English as a second language' crowd, illegals committing crimes and being repeatedly deported only to return and commit (yet) another crime, government telling Americans what they can and cannot posses, ingest, or at what speed they can travel because to do otherwise ILLEGAL....

Yet millions of ILLEGALS cross our border every YEAR!

Then the few that DO get caught are not only NOT prosecuted...THEY ARE RELEASED INTO THE US!

No Dane, that's not paranoia, it's REALITY.......

And you know that the dems will not do anything and make the situation worse

True, but I KNOW to watch an ENEMY.

I shouldn't HAVE to watch an ALLY!

Oh, and far as you opinion goes?

I think you can figure that one out on your own.

Bush could have looked like a hero by getting out in front of this and being on the SIDE of the MM, arguing that they were a case why we need even tighter border security. This illegals thing is his absolute worst mistake.

Did you forget your sarcasm tag? Or did you conveniently forget about the Second Amendment?

I already seen a little of that wishful thinking here.

You're right, the border has become a dangerous place, surely the druglords & assorted thugs down there are just chafing at what these guys are doing, drawing attention to the area & disrupting their operations. It would be short of a miracle if something DOESN'T happen.

If/when it does just watch 'em come out of the woodwork.

Legal immigration has never been a problem because we regulate that quite nicely, even after the 14th amendment.

The 14th Amendment didn't give citizenship to anchor babies; the Supreme Court did.

The Minuteman project is proving that the "Border Patrol" has not been doing their job - a job that has been rather limited by the "powers that be".

As my tagline says, "they are doing the jobs that American politicians won't do."

Not a pretty thing to see a someone I admire as a CINC have to eat his words due to his neglecting our border.

"Hey, how long before LaRaza, or some other advocate for open borders, creates a setup to 'prove' everything that they have contended about the Minutemen?"

Without funding from the Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Institute and various "outreach" programs of the FedGov LaRaza would fade away. I believe there is a serious push on to merge our country with that of Mexico and these groups are shills to help accomplish that purpose. These groups and many of our leaders want an open or no border and they don't care what price the citizens of this country have to pay.

"Some 'hard line' anti-immigration guy will run (who can't get elected) and take enough votes from the GOP to put the Democrats right back in power (like they did with Wilson and Clinton)."

Perhaps you should copy that and mail it to the White House a few hundred times - because I'd certainly vote for that hypothetical hard liner.

Just as #5 stated; I support GWB and defend his policies daily but he's letting the entire nation down on this single issue and the GOP is entirely gutless out of simple PC fear of being called racist.

Guess which border is "guarded" by the world's greatest superpower, in wartime?

Hundreds of billions of dollars are being thrown at the DHS, but no money can be found for 2,000 more Border Patrol agents, or a simple and effective fence like the one at the bottom.

Bottom line: our "leaders" want cheap illegal alien labor more than they want to protect us from terrorism.

U.S. Constitution Article 4 Section 4:

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,

and shall protect each of them against Invasion;"

From all the negative threads about Pres. Bush on here lately, I'd say that when the next election comes you may have Hillary or someone of her ilk as your "Commander in Chief".

If that happens it might be because President Bush did not guard our borders - not even during a time of

W A R.

I already seen a little of that wishful thinking here.

More than a little. Anyway, who cares? America is finished as a Republic. We are just sitting here waiting for the final solution to hit - as the Jews did in Germany.

Comments like that here on FR should be as inappropriate as a fart in Church, but I've been seeing more and more of them lately.
