The Minutemen Will Make A Fool Of President Bush
GDO Online ^ | 4/8/05

Posted on 04/08/2005 1:46:00 AM PDT by BurbankKarl

President Bush has called the Minutemen, who are now patrolling the U.S.-Mexican border:"vigilantes." I suppose that Bush believes anyone who wishes to help enforce our laws and maintain U.S. sovereignty is a vigilante. If our president had not abdicated his responsibility in this matter, the Minuteman Project would not exist. However, he did and they are doing a great job!

Despite the erroneous propaganda perpetuated by the liberal media, the ACLU, the Mexican government, and even our president, the Minutemen are not a group of wild-eyed racists--with bloodlust in their hearts. They are retired police officers, former military men, laborers, businessmen, moms, and dads, in short--they are a cross section of America. The only difference between these Americans and most of us, is the fact that they are willing to sacrifice their time and are even willing to put themselves in harm's way. They like most of us, are fed up with our government's lack of interest in enforcing our borders.

Much has been made of the fact that many of the Minutemen volunteers carry firearms. They do not chase down illegals with guns drawn. They are carrying weapons for self-defense purposes only. They do not apprehend suspects. They are simply operating as the eyes and ears of the incredibly under-staffed U.S. Border Patrol. The area along the Arizona border with Mexico (where the Minutemen are stationed) has become a very violent sector, filled with Latin American drug smugglers. Perhaps, we should remind the left that we as U.S. citizens, still have the right to bear arms.

The Minutemen have taken on the responsibility of spotting and reporting anyone seen, illegally crossing the border. Period.

The Project's duties were well described by Minuteman spokesman Mike McGarry this weekend, he said : "You observe them, report them, and get out of the way."

This past weekend saw the first patrols of the Minutemen, which yielded several arrests of illegal aliens. On Saturday, volunteers spotted and reported sightings of illegal crossings. Their actions resulted in 18 arrests.

As of Tuesday (three days after patrols began), the Minutemen were responsible for aiding in the arrest of 176 illegal aliens. These numbers will continue to rise and by the end of April, this dedicated group of men and women will have done their country a great service. With every illegal alien who is apprehended, President Bush looks a bit more foolish and impotent.

it will give them a nice issue to glom onto

Maybe, but I don't think their 'glomming' will be effective unless they make commitments (which, of course, we know they won't keep) during the campaigns. I don't think they'll do that. They'll be like Kerry who always planned to make a plan.

The fact is that immigration has always been a problem for this nation and always will be-people want to come here! So, how would you solve it?

No. Illegal immigration only became a problem after Mr. Reagan issued his amnesty. I remember the years before his terms. You did not see Mexicans, except in California and some other border states.

Enforce our immigration laws, even in the face of "racist" charges by illegal immigration advocacy groups, many of them illegal immigrants themselves.

And, yes, we can, for a fraction of the social costs of the illegals.

Well I hope you all have heard the new one that was reported today.

"The Mexican Army has been reported as having crossed US borders."

Last time I checked that was called an invasion and a declaration of war. But of course that was 30 years ago so maybe the definition has changed for an invasion of other country's military. I'll have to check.

If Republican candidates enrage part of their base and lose future elections, they will have only themselves to blame.

Exactly!

I get SO tired of FReepers telling me I HAVE to vote Republican in the next election or it will be MY fault a Dem wins the Presidency.

HA!

It's the PUBS fault for not giving us a candidate who has the cajones to UPHOLD THE LAW instead of pandering to the One World / affirmative action / support the poor pitiful 'migrants' crowd!

I said immigration, not illegal immigration.

People are going to want to come to this country and that has always been a problem.

The particular groups change, thats all.

while holding on to control of both houses of Congress is still not enough.

Since they're still using the Constitution for toilet paper....

NO, it's not 'enough'.

Its a show of political masturbation to pacify the people.

This maybe true. Everyone wants to live in the USA. I have no problem with that. I realize that we are a country of immigrants but you have to do it LEGALLY!!! Wait in line like everyone else.

And what do you people never leave Iowa?? Jeeze take a vacation and go to California, Arizona, Florida, or COLORADO. Oh wait Colorado isn't on the boarder or did it move? They have a huge illegal immigrant problem and they aren't from Canada. So open your eyes and go to Little Mexico and try to read a sign. Unless you speak Spanish you won't understand it.

JMo, the above should say, "It's the PUBS fault for not giving usme a candidate who has the cajones to UPHOLD THE LAW instead of pandering to the One World / affirmative action / support the poor pitiful 'migrants' crowd!".

Now I disagree with your above, which is IMO, a paranoid rant, and look at the whole situation.

And you know that the dems will not do anything and make the situation worse, but what the hey, you seem to enjoy that cutting off that nose to spite your face.

you may have Hillary or someone of her ilk as your "Commander in Chief".

I agree with all the negative statements about Bush. He has performed OK as a war President but has otherwise been awful and not just on illegal immigration. Think, 40% expansion of the Dept of Education, $100 billion farm subsidy, red ink as far as the eye can see, and Medicare Prescription Drugs which are the largest expansion of socialism since Lyndon Johnson's Great Society.

Rather than Hillary I think we should elect Tom Tancredo. He is not only good on illegal immigration but he is actually a real conservative.

One incident, no matter how minor, is going to get amplified all out of proportion.

If the Minutemen become too large a thorn to the administration, they'll be turned into a Waco puddle. Probably using some kind weapons baloney as the excuse.

It must be a terribly stressful experience for a conservative partisan when his party is doing liberal things, and he has to support them anyway.

The Republican Party has come too far and accomplished too much for this divisiveness

I beg to differ. It was the voters of our country that provided the money, boots on the ground, and votes during the campaign that provided the Republican party with the majority in Congress. Thus far the Congressional majority is exhibiting the same lack of spine as when they were a minority in the face of democrat/socialist attackers. The R-party has rolled or postured far too often to earn any respect.

Well good for you! Your living in your own world then! I work for a living too! It's called the Marine Corps. So when you've traveled to more states than I have and more countries than I've been stationed in then tell me that immigartion isn't a problem. "After all it's only an issue for the boarder states" Isn't that how you put it?

I said immigration, not illegal immigration.

But we're talking about illegal immigration. Legal immigration has never been a problem because we regulate that quite nicely, even after the 14th amendment.

People are going to want to come to this country and that has always been a problem.

No, it hasn't. Because people who want to come, and will do so legally, don't get to come until and unless they get processed. That is controlled by law and enforced.

"It is bordering on the ridiculous that the Border Patrol is crediting the Mexican Army for reduced border crossings on the Arizona Border.

The Mexican government encourages the illegal emmigration for a variety of reasons and probably did put a halt on Arizona crossings. They probably do not enjoy the Minuteman Movement and will seek to get it quashed. The Minutemen need to be careful out there.

"AMENSTY FOR ILLEGALS BUT NOT FOR MINUTEMEN?

Maybe he's afraid of being labeled racist. Why would that be?"

The only people left to discriminate against is the European white people, specifically male. Otherwise you are labeled racist.

Everyone I think knows that.

I dint say it isn't a problem Jarhead, { can say that cause I'm an ex dogface } I said that we simply don't notice it here. Get off my ass. I am trying to point out, maturely!!!, that there is a problem among conservatives who simply don't recognize the problem. Learning about the existance of the Minutemen is a great way to get us isolated conservatives in on the problem. Selfrighteously chewing us out only pisses us of at you in particular and may even make us mad enough to turn a deaf ear to the problem. So lighten TF up!

Ok, all of you whining, bit*****, fair weather republicans. This is just one issue, a big one, yes, but still one issue.

Bush has been a great president, one of the best we have ever had and I have been around a lot longer than most of you so I would know.

We are making headway on gun control, we have stopped terroism cold in the ME, it is just a matter of time before it dissapears there altogether. Democracy is running rampant and Bush caused ALL of it to come about. Also we are gradually making people aware of our liberal education system that needs to be changed and it wil be if we keep republicans in office

If you think the Dems are going to do anything about immigration you are sadly mistaken and you will get much more than you bargain for if you allow Hillary or some other idiot Dem to be voted in and if you allow Dems to regain seats in 2006.

They will push their anti-gun, anti-marriage, legislating judiciary, illegal immigrant programs until they are blue in the face, bill after bill will be passed and you will be moaning and complaining and maybe spending a little jail time because you decided to speak your mind about it. Make no mistake: If we allow one more Dem in the presidency or a dem majority in the congress within the next 20 years we will become a communist country with very few individual freedoms, if any, to call our own. So, go ahead and throw your temper tantrums like little children, for you will soon not have the right to do so if you abandon the Republican party.
