MADRID, Spain (CNN) -- Thirteen men arrested in and around the Spanish capital last Friday on suspicion of collaborating with a terrorist group connected to the Madrid train bombings were freed from jail, a court spokeswoman told CNN.
Police investigators said they had links to several other suspects in the train bombings, but after arraignments this week Judge Juan del Olmo released them on lesser charges of collaborating with a terrorist group.

Is it something in the water that these people are drinking? Has the wine gone bad? I mean what the he!! were they thinking? Are these suppose too be the Countries that are more intellectual than America? Spain, while your at it, let go a few other murderers as well. He11, save the taxpayers money and just don't ever jail anyone again. And keep on spouting the ignorant mantra about "Can't we all just get along." Spain thought the train bombing was horrible, they ain't seen nothin' yet, the fools.

And Spain continues to write new chapters in the book of appeasment. How sad.
"Spain thought the train bombing was horrible, they ain't seen nothin' yet, the fools."
Could it possibly be that the 13 people they released are innocent? And yet you sit there and call a whole country foolish. Yet another keyboard commando.
When you round up all the "usual suspects" in a big dragnet, it's easy to forget that being arrested doesn't equate to establishment of guilt. This is why these terrorist round-ups are really a very bad idea. The FBI rounded up thousands after 9-11 and didn't get beans in the way of genuine results. To give the FBI some sort of credit, though, I do think one reason they kept all those prisoners under wraps was to prevent the yahoos from screaming like stuck pigs and taking vigilante action when the innocent were finally released. Not that I think that justified arbitrary, mass arrests, mind you.
This is true in general. IN fact I wanted Gonzales to point that out to Schumer in his recent testimony. Schumer was bemoaning the "idiocy" which allowed people on the terror watch list to buy guns. He was touting his two-part bill (one part bluster, one part anti-freedom), which would deny people ON the watchlist guns, AND require all records from the FBI gun background checks to be maintained in perpetuity "just in case" one of the gun-purchasers turns out to be a terrorist.
I wanted Gonzales to ask Schumer why we shouldn't just arrest them and throw them in jail, after all we don't simply want to keep terrorists from having guns, we want them rotting in jail.
Schumer of course would then have to say that we couldn't jail people just for suspicion of terrorism (because "imprisoned terrorist" is a protected species for democrats). The Gonzales could point out that we don't normally violate people's constitutional protections simply for suspicion either.
But instead Gonzales did the congressional hearing dance of "of course we don't want terrorists to have guns, and we would love to see your pretty legislation".
Of course, witnesses do this because it is the only way to keep from making news for their opponents....
OK, having said all that, if we simply believe the story the Judge didn't find them innocent, he reduced their charge to "aiding terrorists". And apparently in Spain just helping people blow up other people isn't the kind of thing you get held in jail for awaiting trial.
