Va. Principal Faces Misdemeanor Charges

RESTON, VA, --

Ricki Harvey, 54, principal of the Dogwood Elementary School in Reston, Va., has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of failing to report suspected child abuse involving 88-year-old Kenneth Bayer, a former volunteer at the school.

Fairfax County police spokesman Richard Henry told News4, "I'm not going to say how many victims, but through the investigation we felt that she had information about suspected child abuse at the school with at least one of the students."

Bayer is already facing charges in a separate case. He's accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl at her house last month.

Some parents have expressed disappointed that Harvey didn't report accusations about Bayer's allegedcontact with students.

"Taking my daughter into consideration, they should let parents know that some of the teachers felt uncomfortable about it," said Tia Crawford, whose daughter attends Dogwood. "As far as I'm concerned, she didn't do a very good job about it."

Fairfax County schools released a statement that read in part: "It is not FCPS practice to place an employee charged with a misdemeanor on administrative leave. Consistent with our policies, the school system will not comment on specific details of the investigation."

Last year, Harvey received an award for her work as a principal.

She's been with the school system for 31 years and is scheduled to retire in August.

"88-year-old Kenneth Bayer"

They NEVER change and cannot be treated. Either pay to lock them up for life on 1st offense, or execute them.

How is it that someone this old can sexually assault a 13 year old? All she had to do is move faster than a jog and there would have been know way for this to happen, he would have had a coronary.
