Graduate School of Education professor Julie A. Reuben said that she believed the abundance of liberals in academia could be due to the fact that as people become more educated indoctrinated by liberal professors, they tend to become STUPID.

Surely (forgive the name-calling) someone can come up with statistics showing education levels, by sheer numbers, of "Liberals" vs. Conservatives...

In a related story, a study concluded that water is wet.

In my opinion, today's academic Marxist groupthink has its root origin in the government's funding of academia. Those who accept public monies to fund their work have a financial incentive to believe that they deserve it. In other words, they are paid to become statists, and to be hostile to anyone who thinks otherwise.

Bull crap! I'm a college educated professional and I've never accepted liberalism. I've been a conservative from the beginning. A more likely sceario is that the conservatives leave college and work in the private sector while the liberals love to suckle at the governmental teat. Also, those supposedly enlighted liberals are so bigoted and narrow-minded that conservatives on campus find themselves in a hostile work environment and choose to not be there. But education makes you more liberal? Maybe more indoctrinated in socialist babble, but not more liberal.

Actually, its because of the purges and enforced leftist orthodoxy that shuts conservatives out.

However, their were conservative professors in the past. Only within the last 30 or so years has it become such a exclusive environment. The reason is that conservatives who want to teach are purged out of universities.

Remember what it was like in college? I think academia lives in a secluded environment. All the discussion is like looking down from above on things. Those who stay there never get away from that. Those who leave there to work in the real world have a more balanced view. It's not very suprising that the academics and hollywood vote the same.

Unfortunately the old saying about academia is true. Post graduate education is learning more and more about less and less until you know absolutely everything about nothing. When you narrow your focus to mush you lose contact with how your narrow focused understanding fits with the broad elements of reality.

"as people become more educated, they tend to become more liberal."

More "educated" in what? In philosophies crammed into students' impressionable minds? Educated and surrounded by liberal peers?

The more I got educated about the REAL WORLD, the more conservative I became and I even have a degree and a passport!

Liberal academics are like Hollywood denizens. ME ME ME and in case you didn't see ME, we'll have Oscars while liberal academics parade in front of each other justifying their actual stupidity while they pollute a younger generation and generally p!ss off the rest of us.

Years ago, I remember Dennis Prager telling his radio audience to keep their kids out of college altogether and make them work and travel. There's the education!
