My favorite wrestler was "Macho Man" Randy Savage, especially around 1985-89:

HamiltonJay, you mention looking a lot like Mick Foley. Well, it so happens that I looked a lot like Randy Savage: same age, height, weight, facial features, etc. I was doing a lot of weightlifting in those days, so I even had a passable build (minus the steroids, of course). And I could do the voice. So for Halloween one year I went as Savage. Our group was out on the town, and I even had kids coming up to me for autographs!

I thought he was great back in his "pre-Boogie" days as "Handsome Jimmy Valiant" in the early '70s:

Best Jobber: the Giant Gonzales--that guy who wore spandex outfit that made it look like he was built. Classic.

What you saw Johnny taking out of his waistband was a blood-pack--that is where the blood came from. It is a show, not real wrestling.

NO, I am a former collegiate wrestler. Pro-wrestling is nothing but a staged event and an insult to collegiate, freestyle, Greco and Olympic Wrestling. Forgive my stridency, but it gives wrestling a bad name in my humble opinion.

Dr. Death (Steve Williams).
He is now a born-again Christian and attends my church. He has throat cancer now and can barely talk, but he is kicking the cancer in the butt and walking strong and victorious every day.
I love the guy.

A REAL oldie from the 50's, Verne Gonya.Verne Gagne was from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and even 80s - he was still the champ in the early 80s.

Hey sports fans and scholars, what's the story behind this?
To: Skooz
Yo. Give our best to Steve Williams.
To: OKSooner
You referring to Jacob wrestling with the angel? It's in the Bible. I think the poster even included the text and the reference from Genesis.
To: Charles Henrickson; kandb; TonyRo76
Well, yes, I was. I did read the text from Genesis and the comments from the original poster. I guess I was just asking for more information, for example WHY Jacob was wrestling the angel, why the angel allowed him to prevail, etc.
I'll go ask my brother, who is a Baptist deacon.
To: OKSooner
Well, I can't let a Baptist deacon get ahead of a Lutheran pastor! :-)
This episode reflects Jacob's character: his whole life had been one of struggling and striving. Now he realizes his real struggle has been with God. It is the Lord's blessing he needs, not his own trickery and deceit. The Lord could have overpowered Jacob here--note the hip out of socket. But by grace Jacob's life is spared and the angel lets Jacob prevail. So this is how Jacob will overcome: only by the Lord's blessing. This then is also where Jacob's name is changed to "Israel," "he struggles with God."

Mick Foley. Anyone who can play three different ring personas in one night and have the crowd pretending it really was three different people is a real rassler. (Cactus Jack, Mankind, and Dude Love).
His cage match with my second-favorite, the Undertaker, was perhaps the most spectacular show in wrestling. The script called for the Taker to pile-drive Foley on top of the cage, the cage gave way, and the two of them kept going. Incredible physical effort, and it was most certainly "real," even if it wasn't a competitive athletic event.
