FreeRepublic Pledges (Vanity)
TheHound

Why do these pledge periods have to take so long? For a measly $66,000, I would think the pledge period would only last about a week. If everyone who used this cite for longer, in a year, than they do reading a magazine subsciption, pledged the price of a magazine subscription, I believe the pledge amount would be met in about two days. I certainly hope the day never comes when I have to see "Cialis" ads blinking on the right side of the FR page so they can pay for bandwidth!

Do you ever read the FReepathon threads? Not really. I'm guessing you do, though, so if you have link to the explanation for this round of fundraising, I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks.

Thanks for the ping, Ed.
Your post is very informative for those who honestly would like to know how this place is run.
Over the years, I have noticed that the few who complain about the "budget" and ask the same old questions every Freepathon usually do not contribute to the support of Free Republic and are just mischief making.
Official Donors List
If they are not on the list, they probably don't care about Free Republic.
It's best to just ignore them.

That list should probably be updated, if for no other reason than to remove the former donors who have been banned.

RottiBiz, thank you for posting the donor list, although my name is not on it--but should be--as I am a dollar a day donor.
Thanks again.
And I bump your thoughts.

RottiBiz, thank you for posting the donor list, although my name is not on it... Well, I guess you don't care about FR, then. LOL.

When people donate at the Secure Donor Site, they are asked if they would like to have their screen name on the Donors List.
It is the only official donors list and names stay on the list for one year after the donation.
Some people choose not to put their names on the list, but most of them do.
Thanks for your support of Free Republic!

I'm sure I don't need your permission to post here. Are you requesting that I not post to you specifically?

Thanks RottiBiz. I FReepmailed to change myself from "anonymous" to my screen name shortly after I sent in my contribution, when I realized that only my screen name would be listed. In reading the contribution form, I was unsure as to if my
real name would be posted on a list, which I would not have wanted. The form does not state what "name" means (between screen moniker or actual.)
Thanks again, RottiBiz. And I appreciated JimRob's email to me thanking me for my contribution.

So it shouldn't be a problem to find out what's going on this time, right? I really don't have time to get into this with you now....but no. It should'nt be a problem finding out that we're running a Freepathon to get MONEY, yes, MONEY, to keep the lights on. That would include computer software, of a magnitude none of us can probably imagine, an isp cost, the money to RUN a site this big, and yes, administrative costs. It's MY decision to help out with this. No one is making anyone else help.

Bump to your post.
I don't understand where all the defensiveness is coming from.
You certainly have for your inquiries, though.
Thanks.

Well, okay, but I'm sort of interested in the money that isn't earmarked for the lights, the ISP, the administrative costs - you know, that extra $13,000.

I don't understand it either. I also don't understand why nobody else is asking - doesn't anyone care? Maybe I'm the odd man out here, and nobody is even slightly interested in what's going on.

The links were provided for you, further up this thread.
They're in red, I believe. You hold your mouse over them until you see a little white hand. When you DO see the little white hand you take your index finger...that's the point at people or pick your nose finger (ha!) and click on the left button on your mouse.
Lo and BEhold. A new window opens up. You may then read the threads and get all of the answers.
Do not, I repeat do NOT, pick your nose during a job interview.
And please, smile. It takes YEARS off of your life.
