Why do these pledge periods have to take so long? For a measly $66,000, I would think the pledge period would only last about a week. If everyone who used this cite for longer, in a year, than they do reading a magazine subsciption, pledged the price of a magazine subscription, I believe the pledge amount would be met in about two days. I certainly hope the day never comes when I have to see "Cialis" ads blinking on the right side of the FR page so they can pay for bandwidth!
I am guessing the monthlies were added in.

Heheh I can relate. I recently posted a bumper sticker I SAW, I posted no sentiment either pro or con just what I saw and was taken to task and accused of being a spawn of Satan.
The Bumper sticker in question was:

Sorry, didn't mean to "run with the ball" ....this is the first time I've asked after hearing over and over that people have been banned. Guess I won't believe it til I see the names.
Dead on. I think emotions are getting in the way of facts lately. I have never seen anyone banned unless they violated JimRob's rules.
I am really sorry I said anything about anyone being BANNED which is TRUE! Jim Rob makes the decision on who stays and who goes, but I am telling you IMHO they did not break the rules, but again I am not the rule-MAKER...
I have alot of admiration and respect for one individual who was banned and think it is a big loss that he was banned....Again My Opinion....

Yes, last night when I went to bed I think it was hovering around 30%. Today's figure no doubt is a lot more accurate.

Do you happen to know what the per hour donation rate was 'after about 136 hours' for the Q2 2003 and Q2 2004 FReepathons? How about the distribution of incoming donations during those FReepathons? Were more donations received at the beginning of those FReepathons or towards the end? How about the distribution of incoming donations during the current FReepathon? How many mail-in donations for the current FReepathon have yet to be recorded, and therefore don't appear on the Donor Scoreboard? How many more donations will come in during the next 24 hours?
Sorry, but I fail to see how comparing your per hour calculations for the past two Q2 FReepathons to the current FReepathon is relevant at this point. How can you project 'a decline of 25% compared to 2Q 2004' with the data at hand?
Let's assume that the current Q2 2005 FReepathon closes in the average time of the past two Q2 FReepathons -- (194.5 hr + 197 hr)/2 = 195.75 hr. If that were to happen, then the per hour donation rate would be $66000/195.75 hr = $337/hr. That's above the average of $306/hr for the past two Q2 FReeapthons.
Or suppose the current FReepathon takes an extra day -- 195.75 hr + 24 hr = 219.75 hr. Then $66000/219.75 hr = $300/hr. That's right in line with the average of the past two Q2 FReepathons.
Not that any of this really matters. We will raise the funds needed to keep FReerepublic online in whatever amount of time it takes to reach the goal.
