GRACE JONES IN TRAIN INCIDENT AFTER REFUSAL TO PAY

London (dpa) - U.S.-actress and singer Grace Jones was thrown off a Paris-to-London Eurostar train after allegedly attacking a train manager who had requested her to pay a ticket upgrade, the BBC reported Wednesday.

The incident involving the 56-year-old singer and star of Bond film A View to a Kill happened on Tuesday.

According to the report, Jones had a first class ticket but refused to pay extra after sitting in the premium area.

British Transport Police confirmed that Jones had been escorted from the train at Ashford, Kent, in southern England.

Eurostar said she grabbed the arm of the 39-year-old female manager.

``Grace Jones was challenged by the train manager and was told that, as she did not have a premium class ticket, she would have to pay for an upgrade'', Eurostar communications director Paul Charles told the BBC Wednesday.

``She said she had no money and refused to move from the carriage.

Passengers told us that she was arguing and verbally abusing the train manager. She then attacked the manager, grabbing her arm.''

A first-class return ticket would have cost about 300 pounds (561 dollars), he said, with a premium upgrade an extra 70 pounds.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: ``Ms Jones was challenged over her ticket and asked to pay an excess charge.

``She refused to pay and officers were called. She left the train at their request. No further action is being taken.''

Maybe "Grace" is a misnomer.

I bet she hasn't aged well, with all the coke and drugs she must have taken back in the disco days.

U.S.-actress and singer Grace Jones

There should be a statute of limitations on this sort of thing. Unless she's acted or sung something professionally recently (and please don't miscontrue this as encouragement for her to do so), she ought to be called former actress and singer.

I've always liked Grace's singing style. She has a presence on stage. Songs like "Pull Up to the Bumper" are de rigueur in some clubs around here.

Christopher Walken was in the Premium area, and was supposed to pay for her premium upgrade. At the last minute he changed his mind and told to sit in some other car. He wanted nothing to so with her anymore-- to leave her to her fate, so to speak. You can imagine how angry she was, if you have seen the movie.

It's good to see that Grace has mellowed with age...

Still, Island Life remains one of my all time favorite dance albums. So many great songs: Slave to the Rhythm, My Jamaican Guy, Love is the Drug. Her version of La Vie en Rose is heartbreaking.

But this broad is a world class nut cake, through and through.
