"...What did Katie Couric say? That Condoleeza Rice should give up her seat for President Ford?..."
Not directly. It was "suggested" that she do so so as to make room for Carter, not Ford. Ford doesnt; travel much any more, being 91, so all that talk was about Carter. Nancy Reagan won't be going for the same reason as Ford. The Today talking heads, it could be said, might be guilty of reverse racism, implying that a black (Rice) give up her seat to a white (Carter).
It most definitely is, however there are other catechisms that are not as wordy, that give a very solid, understandable explanation of the faith. The Baltimore Catechism has been used by the faithful for decades and the Catechism of Trent for centuries.
May I suggest one of these two:
Yes... thanks a lot.
I haven't looked it up, but I was told by my priest (or maybe heard it on ETWN) that the novena was post burial...something to double check. But it is fitting to do a novena first before undertaking something that serious.
And, as you note, it's certainly not dragging their feet do get started like was implied earlier.
Thank you

The Vacancy of the Holy See The period between the death or resignation of a Pope and the election of his successor, when the See of Peter is vacant, is called the Interregnum. This Latin term means between the reign (of one Pope and another). It is a period governed by papal law, which admits of no changes to Church governance, or to the spiritual or material patrimony of St. Peter, save the election of his successor. |

I have been so curious to know who this man is; but understand such knowledge may be dangerous to him if made public. I assume the "secret cardinal" is Chinese (PRC).
This is standard practice when a Cardinal is chosen who lives in a country where the Church is persecuted. His name is kept secret so as not to endanger him.
It will be a blast to watch all CNNABCNBCFOXCBS bunch try to figure out how to break through the veil of secrecy.

Or you could try Fr. John Hardon's Catechism (Doubleday.)
A lot shorter, but packs the same punch.
Why be curious?
It's not really an earth-shaking thing.
