I had heard that Bush invited Carter but that he declined.
To: governsleastgovernsbest
I saw it too. I wouldn't mind them calling Carter "a Nobel Laureate and the only President to welcome the Pope to the Whitehouse" if they had called Clinton "the only President publicly criticized by the Pope". Both are true.
Did you notice that they didn't ask why Clinton didn't give up his seat to Carter?

Don't forget that he bankrupt many a farmer by his cancelation of the wheat trade with the USSR.

He is why I became a Republican!
You and me both.
And does everyone remember just who Carter whipped to get his nomination? 8^)

Tongues-a-clucking.... I particularly liked this image.
Glad it gave you a chuckle! Really, it was like two sorority girls gossiping about the boy who had been shot down when he invited one of the sisters to the formal!

Every time I hear about Carter and his latest insults to this country, I remember gas lines, no Christmas lights, 18% interest on mortgages, giving away the Panama Canal, no Olympics, the betrayal of the Shah, the Iranian hostage crisis, malaise, etc.etc. etc. Thanks for the reminder. He was clueless, wasn't he.

I heard that. The President won't say a word and will be courteous. The Iranian will through a fit and ask to be moved. (Speculation on my part, but I think that is the likely scenario.)

Andrea surmised this was all pay-back for Carter's harsh criticism of the Iraq war, which he called a "quagmire," predicting the failure of the January elections. Andrea Mitchell is Barbra Streisand on peyote.
She is nothing but a socialist Dem. media tool with a little too much plastic surgery.

They said that about Condi? Really? They suggested a black woman give up her seat to a white southern male? As Sean Hannity says - unbelievable! And as the Compulsive Liar answers - and yet it happened!

Tongues-a-clucking, Katie and Andrea wondered aloud at least three times why the White House didn't simply ask the Vatican for one more invitation,Because it makes liberals mad.
And really, that's the only worthy goal in all the world.
Pissing off liberals.

They still can't figure out why Reagan handed him his hat.

Gerald Ford isn't going either. Talk about trying to make news where there isn't any.

Andrea opined that Rice should have ceded her seat to Mr. Peanut. Carter couldn't go anyhow. He smashed his thumb with a hammer working on a window sill, and is in severe pain.

Andrea Mitchell, reporting the story, clearly wasn't buying the White House line that Carter politely asked himself to be removed from the invitation list when he learned that space was very limited. If this wasn't true, Carter would say something. He's not shy.
Mitchell acknowledged that, after all, the Vatican is a state, and as the chief diplomatic official it was logical for Condi to attend. Nevertheless, Andrea opined that Rice should have ceded her seat to Mr. Peanut.
Carter is an EX-President. Condi is the CURRENT Secretary of State. 'Nuff said.

You forgot the first of his screwy deeds - amnesty to those who ran away to Canada during VietNam. Wasn't that the first thing he did as President? It foretold things to come.

If Carter had stayed quiet, I probably would have forgotten that he was the WORST president in my lifetime. He is why I became a Republican! Every time I hear about Carter and his latest insults to this country, I remember gas lines, no Christmas lights, 18% interest on mortgages, giving away the Panama Canal, no Olympics, the betrayal of the Shah, the Iranian hostage crisis, malaise, etc.etc. etc.
Was there a worse President in the twentieth century? Some would reflexively say, "Nixon!" but for all his faults, Nixon left the country in slightly better shape than he found it. Like many, I feared Reagan when he was elected, figuring him to be The Guy Just Crazy Enough To Push That Red Button. A quarter century hence, the better Reagan looks, and the worse Carter looks.

Plus supposedly changing John Kerry's less-than-honorable discharge to an honorable one.

Well, I didn't really forget. I was just typing a bunch of things that personally affected me, as I was first married in 1977. You are quite right, that was one of his first actions, and a stinker it was!
The Carter years were like dog years...each one seemed like sseven!!
To: 7thson
He also gave that amnesty to john Kerry so that he could get his medals back and get that replacement discharge form.
