Inspired by Mel Gibson's strong stand against the dehydration death of Terri Schiavo, an Oregon businessman has begun a campaign to see the "Passion" director run for president as a Republican in 2008, saying he's the only potential candidate who has the star power and charisma needed to keep Democrat Hillary Clinton out of the White House. I like Mel
Loved his movies
Think he is a great actor
But there is not a chance in heck that I would ever vote for him as President

Why? Would you hold it against Ronald Reagan? I'd take Mel Gibson over Arnold Schwarzennegger. The GOP could do well with an Outside-The-Beltway-Candidate in '08. Truth be told, we'd be better off with Chuck Norris as President.

But there is not a chance in heck that I would ever vote for him as President. He's not qualified, but if the choice were between Mel Gibson and Miss Hillary, I'd choose Gibson in a heartbeat.

But there is not a chance in heck that I would ever vote for him as President Ditto, until I see a heck of a lot more of him in lower political office, shoring up his conservative bonafides.

Ditto. These are same chicken littles who were running around with their heads cuts off wailing about Cheney costing the Republicans the last election if he wasn't replaced by someone with "charisma". We all know what happened. Why these people panic so quickly I don't know.

Mel has a good set of principles.
He has decent values too.
IMO he is a more well rounded person than Pres. Bush, McCain, Rice, Lott, Frist, Cheyney, or any other Pubbie you can think of that is currently in the national spotlight.
He would be a great president...
