Please. We must really be desperate...

I agree with much of what Gibson says.

However, I hate to admit it, but even I would have to agree with you.

Arnie had no politcal experience...

California was a complete mess and on the verge of bankruptcy

Arnold would never get elected as the President of the US either

Inspired by Mel Gibson's strong stand against the dehydration death of Terri Schiavo,...

Really? What's Mel's stand on Social Security, income tax, ANWR drilling, the environment, the WOT, the WOD, education? Or is just one issue enough to make a decision? Methinks Mr. Welsh is a loon.

The movie is INTENSE - evil, good, human nature, violence.

One of his best movies, imho.

I must say I'm surprised at the majority of the responses so far. I mean whatever happened to the "shut up and sing/act crowd"? Like you I think too many have stars in their eyes without knowing what the man stands for.

No kidding. This is ridiculous. BTW, for those who would vote for a man as Commander In Chief mostly because he took a strong pro-life stand regarding Terri Shiavo...do you really think even he did all that he could to prevent her death? Heck, why not Sean Hannity for President? He did more, and at least we have a tiny clue how he feels about other issues, too. < < jk

Where to begin with all that...

Gibson is a Catholic traditionalist, but it has not been established that he is "at odds with Rome."

We are all sedevacantists presently, since "the chair is empty." But, when the pope was alive, he did not seem to be a sedevacantist, like his father.

And extra ecclesia nulla salus is the teaching of the Church; what you are referring to is a difference in how it is interpreted.

I don't whether Mel Gibson would make a good politician or not, or if he even has any interest in politics. But, I wanted to clear up those other points.

If he runs for a third party I will vote for him. It is time to put the fear of God in these corrupt politicians.

Mel has never held a single office...and that is one big reason not to support the guy. I've seen too many people come out of the woodwork (Car dealership owners, bankers, media folks, etc)...who were just not up to the task. I need to see more evidence before we start such a campaign.

Gibson for President?

I imagine you'll be applying for the White House Press Secretary position?

Thanks for the clarification. However, Gibson's beliefs are an obstacle because most people, including a large majority of Catholics and most evangelicals, do not understand what "extra ecclesia nulla salus" means. Many nonreligious people cannot tell a sedevacantist from a Salesian or even a Seventh Day Adventist. Whether he is a sedevacantist, a Feeneyite, or just a traditionalist adherent to the doctrines of the pre-Vatican II Catholic Church, his views could or would be distorted if he chooses to run for public office.

I'd vote for Mel Gibson over any one of the potential candidates mentioned to date.

It is time to put the fear of God in these corrupt politicians.

I agree, but I believe he would stand a better chance as a Republican, just to avoid splitting the GOP vote.

And almost anyone currently holding or running for office with a law degree or an MBA falls into the "corrupt politician" category.
