Thank you all very much!!
I didn't THINK so. Althought I'm sure she'd live ANYWHERE with you. :-)
Or were they brother and sister?
OH, now Valerie has made the decision much tougher. Which lovely abode to choose?
You're the Top,
You're the Coliseum.
You're the Top,
......
You're the ............ Dome?
You're the STEEPLE!!!!
It is the house her great great grandmother was born in. We wish her uncle would sell us the land. It is a beautiful piece of land. If you look closely you can see that the house was a dogtrot design.
Now that has potential. How much?
Ralph and Alph were sibs.
I wrote a poem for Just Amy today that she will run next week. The poem is about the feeling I get around old houses. Here it is without the picture and the Just Amy treatment.
If Walls
Oh if walls could only talk,
A story these would tell.
Of ever changing seasons,
Of history known well.
Many births and happy times,
You know theyve seen a few.
Recounts of days of sadness,
These walls would share with you.
I touch these walls and listen,
To what they have to say.
Every house thats been a home,
Can touch you in some way.
Some look and see a structure,
But there is so much more.
Wood and stone are just a part,
Life lived inside that door.

But I don't know what you mean by a dogtrot design.
I took these pictures a couple of years ago.
I like that one. Room for a studio!
Are you saying I have a pointy head?
It was my great great grandparents house, and my granny was born in it.
Truly beautiful, CG. You have great talent...and heart. I feel similarly about old houses and time gone by and all of its meaning.
Just AWESOME, Laura. Such a rarity, and so great.
The land it is sitting on is absolutely gorgeous!
Common in the south and west even California during 1800's and before. Build a one room house. Then build another next to it with a breezeway between and a common roof as the family gets bigger. Then enclose the breezeway and add to the back. Google Dogtrot houses and enjoy
