I am deeply saddened by the news today that Terri Schiavo has died.
I extend my deepest sympathy and prayers to Bob and Mary Schindler and their children. This is an enormous tragedy and we grieve for them and mourn with them. They must now bear a burden of enormous sorrow. They have fought valiantly on Terris behalf for many years but were unable to convince stubborn courts and the Florida Senate to defend Terris life. I urge believers to pray for the Schindler family.
I am also angered at Terris death. What we have witnessed in the last two weeks is judicial homicide. Terri Schiavo, on flimsy evidence, was killed by court order under color of the rule of law. The inaction of the Florida Senate is an egregious example of moral indifference. They are culpable for their inaction.
America has been forced to watch now for two weeks while an innocent woman is slowly killed. This nightmare into which America has been plunged demonstrates what happens when legislators let judges seize control; when our elected leaders are cowed by judicial orders and shrink from their constitutional obligations.
This terrible saga shows just how far we, as a nation, have come since 1973 when our High Court ruled that the lives of unborn children may be taken at the whim of a mother and her doctor. The ruling, which threw out the idea that life is sacred, laid the groundwork for what we have just witnessed.
What is next? It is, after all, a very, very short step between making a person die by starvation and making them die by a legal and lethal injection of poison. Vermont is now considering following Oregon in making physician-assisted suicide legal.
Unless we, the people, wrest from our robed masters, the right to set social policy on these life and death issues, we will follow the path already taken in Nazi Germany. It was for the well-being of society that mass euthanasia was practiced in 1930s Germany. Hitler exterminated over 273,000 people before the Holocaust really got started. His program to purge those who have lives not worth living included the aged, the infirm, the senile, the mentally retarded, and defective children.
When life is no longer held sacred there is no moral brake to protect the weak, the disabled, the very young, and the old. Already at risk, they are even more imperiled by this dreadful moral catastrophe.
I am deeply saddened that D. James Kennedy sat idly by and didn't do a damn thing until the battle was over.
I am deeply saddened that the only protestant "reverend" to show up at the death camp was media hound Jesse Jackson.
I am deeply saddened that all the big time TV preachers chose to stay home and hide while a woman was starved to death in full view of the nation.
I am deeply saddened that the so called church is run by cowards and con men.

Ye shall know them by their fruits.....
The fight didn't move, it was always for our lives.
Actually, more importantly than that, the fight was really always for our souls. That is what is, and always was, really at stake.
The problem is that too many people are passive, uninformed, uneducated and just aren't interested in politics. They live in their own little bubbles and assume everything will turn out right.
What should he have done?
Where was Dr Kennedy?? Where was his flock?? Not at the hospice, thats for sure and they are based in Florida too.
and what is he doing about it?
he operates out a county where a sitting judge does NOT get opposition during elections.
he has remained silent during the fl marriage amendemnt efforts.
The man has much to respect, but while his back yard has schools overun by GLSEN and the Boyscouts are booted out he is not exactly "helping."
yes i am ranting, but he should have be IN front of the curve not in the back.
While I wholeheartedly agree with Doctor Kennedy's sentiments on this and many other things, I do not understand why he sat idly by and let it happen. I am sure that the people in his church were praying for Terri and her family as were Christians everywhere, but as a well respected clergyman, he may have been able to make a difference if he was more vocal about it when it could've made a difference.
Dr. Kennedy has been fighting the left for a long time.
When he speaks on this subject I have great respect for Dr. Kennedy and, i beleave he is truly a God fearing man and, he knows as many Americans where we are starting to traed with
the "oligarchy of despots". Bioethics has a large following in
Fl. and, Felows, Judge Greer, and their associates are re-
sponsible for the murder of Terri Schavio.
Wow, those are some rather serious accusations.
Who are your two or three eye witnesses for each of the people you have impugned over the entire time of this ordeal?
What do you think they should have done that they didn't do?
What did you do?
Math 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits.....
Agreed.
?.....maybe, they were too busy writing their 'Preterist' (anti-dispensational) books on their plans for 'their' American Theocracy..... to save America and the whole world through a 'gone-missing'...Jesus (AWOL)King-Messiah.........Preterist-Escatology?
?.....?
(The Nation Israel is NOT the church, the church is NOT the Nation Israel,....NEVER was, NEVER will be!!!)
....Choose Life Shalom!!! ?
Big talk - show up in Tallahassee with petitions - big deal.
He could have shown up at the hospice. He could have led a delegation from his church down there. He could have gotten himself arrested along with the 47 other courageous people who tried to take water to her.
But he didn't. Neither did any of the other big deal preachers on TV.
Where was T.D. Jakes? Where was Pat Robertson? Where was Rod (Howling Mad) Parsley? Where was Paula and Randy White? They've got a mega church right there in Tampa!
There were lot's of black preachers who went to jail with M.L. King in the 60's. They took direct action. They made a difference.
Jesus didn't say petition the government he didn't say write to your congressman, he didn't say fight the culture war
Math 25:35 & 40
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:.........
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Here's what God thinks of your big time TV preachers
Jer 5:26-28
For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.
As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.
They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.
Alas, it has always been so! Didn't the Revolution of 1776 get accomplished by about 5% of the population? That most people are passive is axiomatic. But I applaud post #2! Where WERE all of the so-called leaders, Church and otherwise? It's easy to know where the politicians were; they are NOT leaders. They are followers of polls. But where were the Church leaders? Perhaps that gives us a hint at why the Church has become so irrelevant in the lives of so many today? NO LEADERSHIP.
Amen! BTW, what was that noise I heard when I read post #2? Sounded like clanging cymbals to me. Did you hear it too?
Amen!
Romans 11:25-28.
"I am deeply saddened that all the big time TV preachers chose to stay home and hide while a woman was starved to death in full view of the nation. "
What a travesty this was. I guess face time on TV and raking in donations is so much more important than practicing what you preach. As far as I am concerned they are all frauds.
I agree with you. I would not be too critical of an old man for not going to Woodside when I, a strong healthy, somewhat younger man did not go. Why should we think a minister should go when we did not.
