Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority
And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
No .. I wasn't home and missed it
Dang!
Darn, and I though sure they were waiting for ME!!!
See post #466
A question from the uninitiated...do they always take a roll call vote on whether to adjourn for a couple of hours?
No, they're doing this just because Reid objected to the recess.
It's pretty obvious everyone wants the break so what's Dusty up to, trying to delay the Judiciary Committee?
LOL vote was 98-1................Hummmmmmmmm I wonder who the one was?
They'll be beck at 2:15.
Yep, I do believe that Harry, as Minority leader is the one that is picked to do the "dirty" work, so the rest of the dems can still look cooperative---
BTW, they will be showing the Judiciary committee on C-span 2!!!
Did you hear Lindsay Graham at the end of the vote to recess? The girl brought the slip up with the vote count and Lindsay kinda tapped the gavel thingy and looked down at the workers and said "Wake up", and then laughed---
I thought it was funny and it reminded me how sometimes I really like Graham---unfortunately he is way to squishy on important votes!
Did you hear what was just said on C-span 2 by that Chuck Todd whose pic is on the TV?
Bill Richardson, Gov. of New Mexico is getting his fat head into the Bolton debacle---
He heard that Bolton got some intelligence out of North Korea by listening to a phone call at one time, so now Richardson wants an investigation to find out if Bolton ever "listened in" on one of his conversations when he was UN Ambassador---another totally politically driven thing, probably no validity, BUT Richardson gets the rumor out there and of course the MSP--Main stream Public-doesn't follow up to find out is was a bogus story!
Specter just lied in the committee saying it was a 99-0 vote for recessing---
Yeah, I heard Chuck Todd.
This Judicary meeting is only an hour, so I bet they'll get to the judges.
Got it on .. thanks for the ping
Thanks for the ping, tv not available right now, will read along
FYI---on C-span is the National Press Club with Chuck Hagel as the speaker---hmmmmmmm
what is Diane talking about a medical amendment bill in the Judiciary Committee hearing???
Did Reid choose to PO Frist by objecting to the recess?..forcing a vote..
My question is: why did they even go the trouble of recessing the Senate to do what they are doing, which is NOTHING!!!
All they are doing is BSing with each other because I guess there isn't a quorum---what the heck is going on?
If this is a typical way a committee works everyday, then no wonder they don't get anything done---and then at the very last week of a session they have a hugh omnibus bill, and have like 40 votes in one day!!!
This is the biggest waste of money I have ever seen!
