Wasn't going to answer, but as a fundamental Christian, I love my fellow man and want to help. Either slow down, breath deeply, and take your meds; or if you have already taken something, wait till it wears off, and then try to follow my thoughts.
First, I must point out to you that a great many more tax dollars are taken from Christians and used to tear down our traditional American values than we have ever gotten back. Christians are really citizens, too, and their neighborhood orgs. are uniquely
equipped to help local people.
Which side here is like the Russians, libs or conservatives?-- they closed down the churches and put their country under the religion of Communism--didn't turn out all that well, either. Communism ended up killing more millions than Hitler did when he tried to close down the Christian church and turn back to Nordic religions.
All this angst about Christians trying to impose a Theocracy is promoted through the media, academia, and orgns. like ACLU, NARAL,et al. We just want a Republic based on the Constitution as written by our Christian founders who made it clear the state was not to establish a religion. Got that???--The state was not to say everyone had to be a Christian, or a Muslim, or an Athiest. Every citizen was to have religious freedom and also be able to exercise that religion freely. Did you know that one of the reasons for starting Harvard and other schools was so that an educated populace could read the Bible? Now, the bleeters of the left don't want a Bible in any school or God mentioned. Mention Mohammed-but not Jesus.
By constantly spouting vitriol about the Christian right In the US today, the media are using Christians exactly as the Jews were used in Hitler's Germany--to stir up hate and distrust against them so they will be feared. Lashing up a furor about "radical right Fundamentalists" will take attention away from what the socialist, athiest, communist fellow travelers are doing.
Whatever are you thinking (or not thinking)? Although a huge % of Americans believe in God, the number of fundamentalists is quite small. The Christian ideals have been mainstream in this country for over 200 years; but the fundamentalist idealogues are few and not that influential.
In the recent Schiavo horror, TV, papers, and pundits kept mentioning the Christian right influence in getting govt. involved. How sickening to see the wolves howling for the blood of Christians, when they should have been howling for the blood of the branch of government that ordered the horrible death of a disabled person.
Yes, tbn80, the courts are actually a branch of govt. Michael Shiavo went to govt. to get permission to kill his wife because she would not die. And not only did govt. oblige--that particular branch of govt. usurped Terri's rights, became a dictator and ORDERED Terri's nutrition and hydration stopped. That is why the police were there--by order of the Imperial Court(Judge Greer) She couldn't even have her mouth moistened with water or ice cubes. Imagine--what if she realized what was happening? The horrible evil was there anyway,for us to know, as her tongue swelled, she bled at nose and eyes, and ran a high fever. Did you get this---THE COURT ORDERED SHE WAS TO HAVE NOT EVEN ICE CHIPS TO MOISTEN HER MOUTH? The Dems and libs don't seem to have any trouble living with that.
Ask yourself , and answer truthfully, what would liberals have been saying if the court had ordered that kind of death for a diabled enemy combatant held at Guantanamo? Oh, the court couldn't do that because of Geneva Conv. laws? Well, guess what? The court couldn't take away Terri's rights and order her death by law, either.
But it did!!!!
This was not a fundamental Christian issue; it was a civil rights issue of a citizen of the US. Courts are 1/3 of govt. It is not above the Congress or the President. When the Courts fail to uphold the law, what then? This time it was Terri. Next time it could be you or me--for whatever reason.
Tom DeLay, the President, Jeb Bush, and others have been accused of overstepping by getting involved in a personal family matter. It was Michael who used (misused) the courts to be sure his wife died--for whatever reason I can only guess. Far from the Republicans using this tragedy for political gain--the left is trying to use it to stir up animosity for those who tried to keep this from happening. Instead of looking at all the statements and background, the media just took the superficial emotions and gave the real story a pass.
