Because it was the fastest thing to do at the time and the case they had before them. Time was of the essence and the Senate and Congress saw what a HUGE miscarriage of justice Terri's death was- and is going to be.

Problem you have though is the next time a Democrat congress sees a miscarriage of justice somewhere in some state...well, you get the idea. It's ok as long as they do it for an issue with which I agree, but hands off if I don't agree with the particular miscarriage of justice.

Then they would have to have the people behind them. The Republicans did not just think of this themselves. They have the laws, the Constitution and the people on their side. (do not believe those polls)

They have been hearing from their constituents for many years about this topic. By the millions.

And in the future if the Dems have the people, the law and the Constitution on their side they would be right to fight for a change.

But what you are afraid of has already happened-BUT they went in the backdoor and got the Judaical branch. This kind of garbage has been going on for years- it has hit a crescendo over the internet- that is why it is in your face.
