Theresa Marie Schindler... May Daily Thread 2005 CALL TO ACTION: Our Fight for Justice Continues
Various Sources ^ | April 3, 2005 | floriduh voter

Freeper friends, Terri's Memorial Service is this coming Tuesday night in Gulfport, Florida. Please check and see if www.baynews9.com will carry it on the internet.

I'm still sad and in disbelief that the rescue fell apart. It was on it's way. We were waiting there for ambulances but instead two Sheriff's cruisers arrived.

There's much work to do. There are many work groups here carrying on for Terri.

The April Daily Thread as before will be a meeting place, a news digest and even in the midst of sorrow, a place to make friends.

I want to thank everyone who did everything humanly possible for Terri and her family. Terri's safe now from a room with the blinds closed, strange people and armed guards. She'd still be here if it wasn't for judicial despots who it appears have never read the Declaration of Independence or the U.S. or Florida Constitution.

Freepers, Republicans and Democrats alike voted against Terri or didn't do enough to save her from Judge Greer.

I'd like to thank Ralph Nader, David Boies, Joe Lieberman and Wesley Smith, Phd, author of Forced Exit.

I have disdain for the Naughty Nine Republicans in the Florida Senate who vote "No" which barred Terri from legislative relief. The GOP House Members who voted "No" on Terri, shame on them too.

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE AGENDA AND WHO IS IN CHARGE? I'm afraid that Judge George Greer is in charge - of everything.

PLEASE HELP FLORIDA... CALL YOUR SENATORS AND CONGRESSMEN/WOMEN.

HELP US. We feel stranded by tyranny today, but Florida is ripe for change. We will demand it together as Americans.

Thanks, FV

BEAUTIFUL STILL

A beautiful young singer named Kara Klein just recorded a new song dedicated to Terri. Kara Klein's website states this song was "specifically recorded to celebrate the courage and beauty of Terri Schiavo, the Schindler family, and all who embrace the culture of life."

COMPLAINTS ABOUT GREER'S AWARD... from Reuters News

Award for judge in Schiavo case criticized

Thu May 5, 2005 10:30 PM ET

By Robert Green

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Reuters) - The Florida judge who presided over the politically and emotionally charged Terri Schiavo case received a special award from a local legal association on Thursday, prompting more controversy.

Judge George Greer received the West Pasco Bar Association's Special Justice Award for his integrity and professionalism, according to the attorney in charge of the event, Alan Miller. He said the award was intended to honor Greer for his entire career, not just the Schiavo case.

"I liken this to a lifetime achievement award for an actor," Miller said. "He's an excellent judge. He followed the law."

Greer ordered Schiavo's feeding tube removed on March 18 at her husband Michael's request and over the objections of her parents, Robert and Mary Schindler. Schiavo died on March 31 at a hospice in Pinellas Park, near St. Petersburg.

She had been in what doctors said was a persistent vegetative state since suffering a heart attack in 1990 and her husband said she would not have wanted to remain alive in her condition.

President Bush, his brother, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and Vatican officials urged that Schiavo be kept alive and the U.S. Congress passed an emergency law requiring federal courts to review Greer's decision. But a federal judge in Tampa, an Atlanta federal appeals court and the U.S. Supreme Court all refused to overrule him.

Greer, a 63-year old Republican, was first elected as a judge in 1992 and was re-elected three times, including twice after he first ruled in 2000 that Schiavo's feeding tube could be removed.

Miller said his office had received telephone calls from people around the country upset about the award to Greer.

Among those condemning the award was Father Frank Pavone, director of Priests for Life, who called Greer "a murderer" and said no court had moral authority to take innocent life.

"Terri was not dying until she stopped receiving food and water ... It does not require any legal or medical expertise to recognize that as murder. Nobody who has lost the basic capability to understand that should be honored," said Pavone, who spent several days at the hospice before Schiavo's death.

Greer received several death threats during the case and resigned from the Baptist Church he attended because of the controversy.

FV SAYS: The Congress and the Florida legislators were also getting complaint phone calls. I'm not surprised that Gov. Jeb Bush can't get his way any more at the Capital. He turned the ambulance around and everyone knows it. We don't know who told Jeb to stop the rescue but he did. Jeb can't win these days.

Sean Hannity said last night he will have an interview with the Schindler family tonight. They should be encouraged to continue airing the injustices that were a part of Terri Schiavo's life.

TRANSCRIPT OF MICHAEL SCHIAVO'S BROTHER, BRIAN, ON LARRY KING LIVE.

The following transcript shows that Brian Schiavo is a bully like his brother.

March 31, 2005 (Day of Terri's death)

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0503/31/se.01.html

EXCERPTS

BRIAN SCHIAVO: I just wanted to call because I have two points I'd like to straighten out. I watch your show, and first of all, Frank -- what is his name, Frank...

LARRY KING: Pavone.

BRIAN SCHIAVO: Pavone. Yes. He's a poor excuse of a priest, I'll tell you that. The man made a comment to the workers, or, basically, made a comment that said that the flowers in Terri's room were being treated better than she is. That is a slap in the face to the people that work in that hospice, and he ought to be ashamed of himself.

David Gibbs better get his act together, because I'm getting sick and tired of everything being twisted and turned, half- truths. You know, they should just tell the truth.

LARRY KING: Hey, Brian, is there any healing possible here?

BRIAN SCHIAVO: I have no idea. Not from me, I'll tell you that. Maybe with Michael, but not from me.

BRIAN SCHIAVO: I'll tell you, from the very beginning of this, Larry, these people have done nothing but twist and turn and spin this thing. They've made my brother out to be a demon. You know, vilified, he's a murderer. And you know what, we're tired of telling people -- you know, we're not going to prove anything to any body else, anymore. If they don't believe it, that's fine. If they can't believe that this man promised his wife, and committed to her that he would not let her live like that, in that state, then you know what, that's on them. They can go pound sand.

LARRY KING: OK, Brian, hold it. David Gibbs, do you want to respond? Brian, hold on. SCHIAVO: Yes, I'd like to respond to David Gibbs.

LARRY KING: All right. Go ahead.

[DAVID] GIBBS [ATTORNEY FOR PARENTS OF TERRI SCHIAVO]: Now, Larry -- Larry, as we look at this situation, I don't think it's productive for the parties to continue to take shots back and forth. Bobby Schindler...

BRIAN SCHIAVO: Well, then, tell the right thing.

DAVID GIBBS: (UNINTELLIGIBLE)statement to the...

BRIAN SCHIAVO: Tell the right thing then, Mr. Gibbs.

LARRY KING: One at a time. Brian, let him speak.

GIBBS: We are heartsick today that Terri has stepped into eternity, we believe unnecessarily. We've watched this lovely lady that was loved by the family, loved by the mother, loved by the father, loved by the brother and sister. She was starved and dehydrated to death.

And certainly, the other side believes they've done the right thing. We very much believe that to starve to death an innocent, disabled woman, when you look in the room and you watch Terri literally withering away, Larry, it's heart breaking.

LARRY KING: David, are you discounting what Brian said, what happened with Bobby today? Are you saying Brian is not telling the truth?

DAVID GIBBS: I don't know what Brian has...

(CROSSTALK)

BRIAN SCHIAVO: Mr. Gibbs, I was there. You were not. Tell the truth.

DAVID GIBBS: Well, I've talked with the -- I've talked with the police officers. I know what the police officers have said.

BRIAN SCHIAVO: I don't care who you talked to. I was there. You were not. You have -- you're just -- you're just like the rest of them. You spin things; you twist things. You don't tell the truth.

LARRY KING: David, Terri's gone. Is there any hope that you -- Brian says not on his part. Do you see any reconciliation here?

DAVID GIBBS: Well, the hope and prayer of the Schindler family, Larry, would be, yes. Obviously, you can see demonstrated the spirit of the other side. It's upset. It's accusatory. It's hurtful. And the Schindler family has offered forgiveness. Bobby Schindler, speaking publicly for the family, has asked that if at any point their spirit was not demonstrating the love and the compassion required of them by their faith. He's asked the world at large; he's asked other side for forgiveness. And certainly, we think it's counterproductive on the day that Terri has stepped into eternity to sit there and snipe back and forth. It just seems like it's disrespectful to Terri.

LARRY KING: Brian?

BRIAN SCHIAVO: Well, you know what? You know what? I would say the same thing for Frank Pavone. I would say the same thing for him. And if you don't think that my brother has been vilified since day one, when you weren't even around, from the other attorneys, then I'll tell you, you better study the record. Because I'm going to tell you, talk about people accusing people, he's been nothing but accused of doing -- being a murderer. And that's ridiculous.

LARRY KING: We do not go calmly into this good night.

(CROSSTALK)

BRIAN SCHIAVO: ...and a murderer. And that is not right.

Terri Schiavo, Martyr

By: Deacon Keith Fournier

© Third Millennium, LLC

The news out of Pinellas Park, Florida breaks the hearts of all decent people. It should shake us to the core. Terri Schiavo is dead, intentionally deprived of food and water, with the force of the raw power of government holding the hands of the executioners. She was killed deliberately, by starvation and dehydration. No Court, Legislative body or Chief Executive had the courage to stop this killing. She was deprived of her substantive due process rights by every branch of government.

Terri was not dying. She was not receiving any "extraordinary medical treatment." She was being fed and given water, as many disabled people are at this very moment, with assistance. She had trouble swallowing because she was disabled by damage to her brain. She would have lived for many, many years, bringing great joy to her family and changing the world. But now she is dead; killed by the complete abject failure of a system that has lost its soul.

The Greek word for "witness" is "martyrion". In our use of the word over all these centuries of Christian history, we have emphasized those who shed their blood for the faith. However, there is also a tradition of "white martyrs", those who live sacrificial lives that change the world. That is what Terri did. None of us will forget her smile. We all adopted her beautiful family. We now mourn her loss and share, at least a little, in their deep pain. We must also become outraged at the sheer evil of this killing and we must act.

Terri Schiavo is a martyr. She had her life taken away by the enforcers of a New Rome. Remember, the old Rome also had an elaborate system of courts and a highly developed legislative system. It prided itself on its culture, its arts and its claims to "civilization." Yet, it legally sanctioned horrors such as the practice of exposure, where children, the disabled and other "unwanted" persons were left on rocks to die by exposure to the elements or to be killed by hostile passers by. We now do the same.

The killing of Terri Schindler must mark a turning point in American history. Terri was killed while "the law" was unwilling to intervene. Her death stripped away the veneer of civility painted on the face of the current culture of death. It was a diabolical event, plain and simple. The rejection of the inherent value of every human life as a foundation of our whole understanding of ordered liberty is a clear and present danger. We face a serious risk to both life and liberty when reference to the truth is removed as the measuring stick for our behavior. Authentic freedom has been replaced by a counterfeit. The very foundation of decency is shaken.

To honor Terri, we should dedicate ourselves to the long term work of building a new society, a culture of life and civilization of love, where the dignity of every human life will be the polestar of all public policy; marriage and family will be protected as the first mediating institution and defended against those who aim to replace and eradicate them; authentic freedom will be exercised in reference to truth and within a moral constitution, and our obligations in solidarity to one another, and most especially those who have no voice, will be upheld by elected and unelected public servants.

With all the talk of the "religious influence" in America, the martyrdom of Terri Schiavo reveals the lack of a national soul. Terri was killed in a manner reminiscent of past evil regimes. I am reminded of the old adage attributed to the English Philosopher Alisdair Macintyre who, commenting on the decay in English society, once said "The Creed of the English is that there is no God but it is proper to pray to him once in a while." Without reference to the Source of unalienable rights, the One who placed the hunger for true justice within every human heart, we have become unmoored as a Nation.

Terrible injustices sometimes mark turning points in the political history of Nations. I pray that Terri’s death becomes such an event; an impetus for a new coalition for life, family, freedom and solidarity. If it does, Terri’s martyrdom will not have been in vain.

They ARE murderers. If they can't get used to the idea that they must wear it well now that they got their wishes. Greer is having trouble getting used to being called a murderer too.

Do I pity them? That will be the day...When someone's life is taken, it is called a MURDER. Why aren't they proud of their accomplishment? They are murderers and better get used to being called that the rest of their lives.

#2223 This paragraph is incorrect.

Greer, a 63-year old Republican, was first elected as a judge in 1992 and was re-elected three times, including twice after he first ruled in 2000 that Schiavo's feeding tube could be removed.

Seems that Greer is re-writing his past so he sounds like he is beloved. NOT!

Someone I know met with Senator Jim King this past Monday. After the mtg, this individual had to use the Senate restroom because they became physically sick.

Senator Jim King got right in this individual's face and said "If we took away your food, (taking his index finger and pointing at her mouth) we'd take a swab and moisten the inside of your mouth."

He's an sadistic person and it's time for him to be ousted. The person I spoke to was traumatized. How would you like Jim King talking to you about how they would do you in?????

This is absolutely true. I wish it wasn't.

Someone is supposed to email me pics from last night's protest. I'll put them online if they do send them to me.

This does not surprise me about King. He made the comment that politics is a contact sport. Dang right it is! The politicians are the ones who made it that way by their treatment of the citizens. They've slapped us in the face plenty of times. There is going to be a big backlash at the polls next time. I don't believe that Bense, Bush, and the others have any clue how PO'd the public is with them. Even libs thought Terri's killing is wrong. If that doesn't give them a clue then what will? Losing their job!

A friend told me King used to have a sports apparel store here years ago. Her hubby bought her a sweat suit (which she said was the ugliest thing-) She took it with the receipt to return it and he didn't want to give her a refund and he pointed to a teensy sign that was not in obvious view that said "no refunds". She told him she had a big mouth and if he didn't give her a refund that was fine but as soon as she walked out of the place she was going to tell everyone she knew. He gave her a refund. 8^)

1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

King got a lot of money for his last campaign and I wonder what other under the table perks come from lobbyists. Surely the 'many sorrows' will be made evident to him by God.

The movement against the culture of death is growing daily. It's too bad people believed the govt would step in and save Terri but at least they're with us now. There are so many people. I'm glad they woke up from their false sense of security.
