My nephew said the two Roman Catholic ladies who spoke to the Deacon said their Priest said it was OK. My nephew was at that time working with the young Altar servers and heard the ladies speak with the deacon before services began.
Guess some priests do and some don't give their folks the correct info.

Well, that one does run late...I've been there until after 2:00 some years. The service of the entombment of Christ on Great Friday evening is also long, but ends by 10:00 and is quite spectacular. I can guarantee you've never seen the like of it. You might want to consider that one and then go the next night to the resurrection Liturgy if you're up to it.
