The fam threw Diana to the wolves in order to protect their precious little Charles. She was no more perfect, etc. than any of us - but she got screwed imo.

Agree. I think she was young enough to be naive in the beginning of the courtship/marraige.

But her pain and anguish took her on a path in hindsight was not a good one.

She was used and she should have walked away dumped the title and raised her boys and hopefully remarry.

Spite got her nowhere.

Unfortunetly she died before she matured.

Charles is a #1 creep for taking advantage of her early on.

“I actually feel sorry for Camilla: to saddle the poor woman with this title imposes a burden on her she has not asked for and should not have to bear. It is not fair on her.”

Freudian fun with infinitives ping.

Diana was a leecher intent on squeezing out of Prince Charles as much as possible. She was also unfaithful to Charles.

Queen Elizabeth is one the few people I most admire. Long live the Queen!

I hope that is the case. And, as I said earlier, I also hope that William has some sense of honor and duty for his nation.

Well, from top to bottom this was a sordid relationship. She was married. If he cared for her that much, he should have married her before her husband did. I believe they had known each other even prior to her marriage.

If I am mistaken in that perception, then he should have found someone that was single to strike up a relationship with.

To date a married woman, then involve Diana in the sordid threesome was indeed revealatory of a flawed character.

The Queen has shown her tacit agreement with my perception, in that she will not be attending his marriage to Camilla. I would suppose she should have stepped in and prevented him from marying Diana, but perhaps she was assured he'd make a go if that marriage.

It is indeed unfortunate how this all played out. I believe it has cost Charles his chance to be king. I would hope so.

I just hope his eldest son turns out to be a good man.

Thanks for sharing that the Queen is not in attending. I did not know that.

That shows her position IMO.

The elder son is certainly a handsome young man and hopefully as much character as good looks.

Hopefully he had enough of his Mom's care while she was alive, before she started gallivanting according to the press, so that he is full of the goodness of a Mom's love.

It is not fair on her.<<<

Weird.

Since the ick-o-meter has been pegged on red alert for a long while, I suspect that nobody else wanted to "go there".

The Brits should have rid themselves of that expensive dinosaur after WWII.

Tourism.....it pays for itself in the end.

That title was already taken, or should we say - earned - by Diana.

Earned??? After the first guy earns his and not all have done so gallantly, titles are passed down with nothing more than being first born or marrying one to get it, pretty or ugly, stupid or smart, kind or evil, rich or poor...it just doesn't matter after that first guy.

In the end for the rest, it is nothing more than a title and character does not count, they still have the title. Can't imagine why Washington did not want to be king in this new country.

The whole thing is a big tragedy.

Charles was pressured by his father to make a suitable marriage - and by his own sense of duty to provide an heir.

Diana was way too immature to realize what her life as Princess of Wales would be like.

Many of we Brits wanted the marriage to work, but personally I had my doubts as soon as I saw the 'fairy tale' wedding dress.

Sad all round.

I wish Charles and Camilla happiness in their marriage.

We all deserve a second chance.

Diana died in a car accident, which she might have survived had she been wearing a seat belt.

Also she would not have been in that car at all if she had been prudent and retained her Royal Protection Agent, to which - as the mother of the sons of a Prince of Wales - she was entitled.

I agree. Except you left one person unaccountable, CHARLES
All that he cared about was himself and becoming king. Either that or he wasn't man enough to do what he wanted to.

Charles obviously DIDN'T think of himself when he married Diana. He loved another woman and caved to the pressure of his parents, family, tradition and law.

I really don't know enough about him personally to know if he really wanted to be king or not. I think he simply wasn't wasn't man enough to say NO to marrying Diana and choosing to go against everything and everybody like his grandfather Edward VI did.
Edward gave up his throne to marry a three-time divorcee loser, Wallace Simpson. Edward VI had guts, but I don't think much of his taste in women.

I think Diana had bad taste in men. First she chose the woose Charles, then she chose the Arab. Both men make me shudder. Ugh.

I think that both Charles and Diana WERE good parents and their sons loved them both.
