Driving in the car, I heard the same mass on the radio on several different stations, so I figured something was up. Then when I checked the news stories on the Net, none of them mentioned the local American time, only the time in Rome that his death occurred.

I forgot to say that as I have been watching the coverage of this Pope's illness and death, I have seen Cardinal McCarrick(sp) several times---

He is sooo cute and funny---I believe if I were a Catholic that I would be tempted to move to Washington in order to go to his parish!

OOPs, I just turned on CNN again, and the priest that Christine Amanpour is talking to is NOT the same priest that helped Mel Gibson---

he looks a lot like him, though, from what I remember, and with my memory, who knows, LOL.

Maybe, but I have a feeling there are a LOT of people that are cussing (at least under their breath), the All Pope all of the time coverage---

They prolly are going through withdrawal from Michael Jackson trial coverage--lol

We were down in CT this afternoon, only getting home about 6:30. We had been listening to the radio on the way down to CT, but didn't turn it on on the way back. Our son told us when we returned home. I figured he wouldn't last the day.

God blessed us with this wonderful man, and I'm glad his long suffering is over and he is in the arms of God tonight.

A good and decent man paying tribute to another good and decent man whom has passed.

We have been twice blessed.

"...one of history's great moral leaders. We're grateful to God for sending such a man, a son of Poland, who became the Bishop of Rome, and a hero for the ages."

wonderful and true.

Those who are cussing at the "All Pope, All of the Time" coverage should remember that we could have "All Communism, All of the Time" coverage, if it wasn't for the Pope's support of the Solidarity movement.

Very true-although my husband and I were speculating today about what the "separation of church/state" crowd, and the CAIR folks will take it---

I heard on Fox a while ago that President Bush will attend the funeral for the Pope, and that it will be the FIRST time that has ever happened---jeez, what was up with the other Presidents that they didn't attend?

They also said this is the first Pope that visited the White House---jeez, again, I really haven't been paying attention, because I did not not that, at all!!!

It is gonna freak out the Bill Maher, Paul Begala, Christopher Hitchens types that Bush will go to the funeral---they just hate his love of God and his respect for the religious!

the young priest that helped Mel Gibson with making "The Passion of Christ"---
%%%%

His name is John Bartunek, and has an amazing story of how he came to the priesthood.

After seeing him once, I wish that he would get more exposure on TV. He could be a real asset to the spiritual needs of our country. His book is "Inside the Passion."

Oh, bless you for posting that---I had forgotten his name and the name of the book---

I saw him interviewed on Fox when the book came out and I was really impressed...meant to get the book, but life got in the way and I forgot.

Thanks to your post, I will now write down the books name so I will try to get it soon....

The mods updated it to read that. I had just started the thread to be about the tribute to the pope.

With all due respect, I'm Catholic and I don't see anything wrong w wearing a pantsuit to Mass or a memorial service. I just saw a brief picture of her from the waist up, but it looked like she had a nice jacket on, it wasn't like she was dressed casually and had a blouse w a sweater thrown over her shoulders, like Hitlery used to wear all the time.

Yes, it's quite a break with past precedent, now that President Bush and Laura have announced that they will attend the Pope's funeral. I think this is very good politics on Bush's part, although I also believe that he is sincere in his desire to honor John Paul II.

And let's face it, this is the biggest bash on the planet. Rome is now the place to see and be seen. And all the ladies look great in their black head scarves.

I myself will hang on every minute of the TV coverage. I no longer have cable, so I hope the MSM gives it extensive coverage.

Unfortunately, the Clintoons have decided to invite themselves to the funeral---some good campaign footage for Hillbilly doncha know?

I just don't see how Bill Clinton can go to the Vatican and be in such a holy place without feeling totally out of place?
