He looks so peaceful.He is at peace now. I can't recall if they had other Popes layed out in this manner. I read a really good article describing his last moments.
It seems that he was awake at the end, looking toward the window of the square where all the people were saying the rosary for him. He made a motion as if to raise his hand in blessing and as the prayer ended he struggled, then said Amen. He died shortly after.
